I think he’s like Jenas. Technically very solid, Jenas a stronger athlete and presence but both mobile.

But Jenas was just passive. Jenas was often at his best against superior opposition because he was forced to play. Better players would test his touch, press him, run at him. And he would show he could play.  But against most opposition when Jenas has to make the play and take the game to them, he just wouldn’t. Games would pass him by just not doing very much.  Ramsey is similar in those regards.  He’s a good and talented footballer. But he’s not going to be a difference maker.

Basically has no footballing personality.

Anita was just shit. Couldn’t compete physically in midfield.  Not enough ability on the ball to compensate m, nowhere near actually. Probably worse than Colback.

Played 38 games this season.

I get the Anita comparison in terms of it looks like we hardly have him in midfield when he plays, there is always a big gap when being attacked and when we do attack ourselves he's nowhere to be seen also.

Aye, surprised it's that many, I guess many are just a sub appearance though right?

I haven't been blown away by him but every team needs tidy midfielders who are technically sound and can move the ball (and with the ball). I still hope he can contribute more next season.

I don't think we're playing him in his best position- I'm sure at Villa he was played on the left wing. Which is where we saw him do damage.

Difficult to say which games he's been subbed on or off just by looking at minutes played, but he's played 11 full 90's this season total in all competitions.

For 40 big ones, he’s been useless to be honest. You can’t sugar coat that he’s offered very little of note this season. But I do think there’s a player in there, just don’t believe it’s where we are playing him. Could see him playing as an inverted winger if Gordon moves on tbh

Yea I really like him and think he’s got a lovely touch and turn, but we’d be lying if we said he’d contributed much.  He’s just a little bit meh - he was never going to move the needle and just seems a very, very expensive squad player.

Because of PSR, we’re not quite in the position where we can drop £43m on a squad player that offers not really much different to what we already have.

I did think it was a shame that we had a 3 week break for Palace (A) where he didn’t have any international football and he barely got a kick, especially given he’d probably been one of our better players in the prior month. Low bar like.

Don't feel like he really does anything

He doesn’t.  That’s his game.

For a game like today when we get pressed he’ll keep it under pressure which is good.  Nice touch and turn pass it safe that’s it.  Has zero personality as a player.

Jermaine Jenas.

I'll stick to what I said at the start of the season, I'd rather have Longstaff and the £30m. Fingers crossed he comes good next season.

Another nothing game. He's in danger of turning into the midfield version of Murphy.

Both called Jacob. How about that.

Scott Parker duplicate atm, though that’s harsh on Parker.

Tidy as fuck in possession, takes too many touches, doesn’t impact the game anywhere near enough in the bit of the pitch that matters.

Thought post-PSG we’d got a gem, but he’s flattered to deceive more often than not since. Two goals and an assist in over 2,000 minutes (23 full games-ish) is woeful for an 8.

Nah Parker tried to be all action and took on responsibility. He just wasn’t good enough. Tonali is the blastoise version of Parker.

Ramsey doesn’t get involved like Parker

Scott Parker before breaking Bullard's leg was a tackling machine, even got a few England call ups to play in a very strong England midfield.

This guy could easily be playing with his brother in the championship.

He’s a squad player which is exactly what he was at Aston Villa. Definitely a tidy footballer but for 40 million i’d expect a bit more.

He’s half the player of Fernandes at West Ham who we could have had.
