Nah I'm not having that like Barnes was our best player arguably against Brentford scored a class goal with a bit of quality that Gordon has never achieved.

He scored a great goal but was otherwise anonymous like the rest of the team afterwards.

Cannot see nothing but a hiding tomorrow like there flying we aren't and look leaky and don't create. 4-1 city.

It's mine, Scarlett Johansson, and Peter Ramage's birthday. Let's make it a good one :)

Not sure, Barnes scored a great goal at Brentford but went missing pretty much the whole match and doesn’t really offer any outlet.

Gordon has been poor bar Benfica but on his day is streets ahead.

When has he had a going day? Bar a couple of decent showings in the CL? Jan/Feb this year in the League Cup?

Barnes at least attempts crosses or shots when he gets near the box. I’d take his output and actually trying to create something. Over whatever it is Gordon has been trying to do for a year.

Howe prefers him for a reason and that’s because Barnes is poor off the ball and goes missing.

Gordon offers an outlet and raw pace that Howe likes.

Howe also prefers plenty of players that get called worse than shit on here on a weekly basis. So I don’t buy that as an argument. We can debate the pros and cons. Otherwise it would be ‘in Howe we trust’ and never question anything he does

Gordon has mainly been crap since the beginning of last season. Had a run of goals and assists after his new contract. Where the performances were better, but not matching the level of the previous season.  But not much outside of that.

You could then probably count on one hand. The number of truly top level performances he has had this calendar year. He’s barely been a threat, doesn’t work as hard tracking back, whether by mistake or design and his numbers are terrible. Also has two brain dead yellow cards in there and seems to have lost that spiky, radge element that I think made him so good. Technically, he is poor for a player at such a high level (England, CL).

It’s all well and good having raw pace. But if you’re not going to beat a man or use the ball well at the end of it. Then that’s a bit irrelevant. Just Dennis Rommedahl or Obertan then?

I said I think he’ll start if passed fit and he’ll get my support like the rest of them. I just don’t think he deserves it or the contract he is on. I can’t lie, I really don’t enjoy watching him play football most weeks.

I don’t know the stats but I reckon you could count on one hand the number of games we’ve lost by more than 1 goal at home under Howe.

Honestly can see anything happening today.

A dour, soul-destroying hammering that gets the crowd booing at full time. We take the lead and get battered 4-1.

A spirited 1-1 draw in which we play shite and somehow come away with a point.

Everything clicks. We win 3-1, we look class. We're back baby! (Next up, 2-0 loss at Everton).

Also for today, who ever we play outwide, Howe 100% has to instruct them to take up central positions. That’s where Man City are the weakest on transitions, players central and able to run behind. When players are wide, it’s further from goal and more recovery time for the defenders.

Small tweak, but something that’s completely different to how Howe usually has us lined up.

I’ll be so annoyed if Joelinton is starting CM again and someone like Ramsey is yet again on bench :D

I’m not Gordon’s biggest fan he’s way to predictable and final product is more often than not shite.

Unfortunately, I still think he’s our best wide man and probably the only one we have who can stretch the opposition at the back.

Joelinton and Pope starting and I’ll be raging.

Such a fount of positivity in here today  I hope the manager and players don't feel the same way as you lot or it'll be a rough evening for us all.

We've had time to rest and reset, an extra 2 weeks on the training ground and plenty of time to prepare for this game and we're at home where we tend to be stronger anyway. I'm going for a well deserved draw or a squeaky slim victory. Whatever it is, I think we will play well and look deserving of our result.

I agree, but if we don't start well, the anxiety will be palpable. If Elanga starts, it'll be party time in the East Stand, they'll kill off any remaining confidence he might have.

Intensity and making life hard for them on the pitch and in the stands and we have a real chance. This recent half arsed (on the pitch and in the stands) nature that we’ve seen and we might as well not bother.

Into the cunts.
