Camp Nou

I think the performance against these at SJP on top of the performance and result at Chelsea on Saturday might've just nudged this into being mission possible. Win a game of football and we're into the Champions League quarter finals. It's that simple (or take it to extra time and potentially pens if still level). Our third time at the Camp Nou; third time lucky, fingers crossed.

LAST TIME OUT?

We've been here twice before and lost both times, conceding 4 and scoring 1 across those two games (which was scored by Shola rather infamously). Both those games coming in group stages, albeit the 2002-03 trip came in the second group stage - still technically a last 16 game but in a different format. You can see our equaliser below if you can work out which pixel is Shola.

However, we deserved to win the home leg of this tie. Yamal should be suspended as should Fermin Lopez but the ref was a cunt. As per.

WHAT ABOUT THEM CURRENTLY?

Still top of La Liga. They beat Sevilla 5-2 on Saturday and have one of if not the best home record in Europe currently. They have won 17 of their 18 home games in all competitions scoring 59 goals. The one home game that they didn't win took place at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys whilst the Camp Nou was being renovated; that was a late loss to an understrength PSG in the league stage.

Basically, they're quite good at home.

HOW WELL DO WE DO IN SPAIN?

2005/06 Lost 2-1 v Deportivo La Coruna (Intertoto Cup)

2003/04 Won 0-3 v Real Mallorca (UEFA Cup)

2002/03 Lost 3-1 v Barcelona (Champions League)

1997/98 Lost 1-0 v Barcelona (Champions League)

1994/95 Lost 1-0 v Atletico Bilbao (UEFA Cup)

1968/69 Lost 3-2 v Real Zaragoza (Fairs Cup)

So, probably the toughest fixture in world football awaits us. If we can somehow manage to become the first English club to win at the Camp Nou since Rafa Benitez's Liverpool in 2006-07, we're in the Champions League quarter final. No pressure.

They’ve scored three goals in every home game since December, so I don’t have us down as favourites. They’ve rested Yamal too, so we’ll need Hall to be on stellar form again.

We know they play a high line, which means there’s always a chance, but this will be tough.

0-0 scrape through on penalties let's do this

I was thinking more a couple lightning counter-attacks that put us up 0-2. Ramsdale playing out of his skin.  Five at the back from 70 minutes.

But either will do.

Will Livramento start again or will it be Trippier at LB? Hopefully Tonali is healthy again.

My team:

Ramsdale; Livramento, Thiaw, Burn, Hall; Ramsey, Tonali, Joelinton; Elanga, Gordon, Barnes.

I have been watching the game from the Nou Camp in 1997. We started Disco Des in midfield ffs. Trying to upload the VHS but UEFA are all over the copyright. Here are the lineups from the most forgotten meeting

Any reason why it's an early kickoff?

They have to pick one for TV and it’s never a game in England, so only left us or Bayern.

If we can nick an early goal. I’ll start to believe.

Early lead in a game against a better opponent has worked how many times this season? We need to keep it tight for 93+ minutes before we score if we want to realistically be believeing we can hold onto a lead.

Tough game tactically for Howe, not sure what he should do. It will be a lot harder than the first leg.

If they play like the first leg we win.

I doubt they'll be THAT bad again though...
