The idea that Mourinho would come here and win us a trophy is ridiculous, he hasn't won a meaningful trophy since he was at Man United about 10 years ago. If we sacked Eddie and replaced him with Mourinho it would finally show 100% that the people at the top have no idea what they are doing.

I'm also in the Howe In camp. Ultimately think he is as good anyone for the rebuild.

That being said, this view has been shaken after these last 2 results, gone from 100% Howe in to around 60%. IF they decide to make a move I'm pretty convinced it will either be Brighton style and some young manager from the continent the majority haven't heard of, or Iraola. He's surely the standout candidate of managers already in the league.

This is probably where I'm at, I love Howe and everything he has done but he seems like hes not enjoying it anymore, I think he must be pissed off having £200 million of his signings on the bench and knowing they wont have much effect if he brings them on.

If a change is coming then Iraola for me.

The big question is: We need a rebuild and we need to sign cheaper, younger players abroad that we might be able to sell. Wilson can find these players, but does Howe accept this change in the way team is build? Does he want more control and "prem proven players"? If we can adopt, then I don't think we will see a change. Although I think Eddie's tank is empty and he, at least with the current squad, doesn't have ideas.

Iraola is another high intensity manager who gets the best out of mediocre players, but I don't think he is going to get us any higher than Howe.

It's possible that this summer will see changes at

City

Arsenal (these 2 if City win the league)

Chelsea

Villa

ManU

Liverpool

Bournemouth

Palace

And then further afield

PSG

Madrid

That competition is strong for managers, but even worse will be looking for a new manager 6 weeks into next season.

So we need either a big show of backing, triple locking down on Howe Ball or he needs to unveil his statue and leave at full time on the last game of the season

Out of these we only need to be concerned with City, (I don't think arsenal change manager) Chelsea, man united Liverpool and Madrid (I think Enrique also extends).

Those clubs are fishing in another pond.

Our ceiling with PSR is basically challenging for the top 4/5 and maybe winning the odd trophy which is what Howe has done. No manager is going to be able to come in and improve on that with the PSR rules as they are. If you want someone to get us " higher than Howe" you need elite players and they aren't signing for us as we aren't able to pay the wages they can get elsewhere. If people want to change manager then fair enough but whoever comes in wont be able to do any better than Howe has done before this season.

Its never been a better time to be a football manager, even a bog standard manager will get a semi decent gig now days. De Zerbi's contract is £50M ffs [emoji38]

Spurs ownership are absolutely clueless on the football side.

Xavi, Poch, Iraola, Maresca

There are a lot of good options. They'll have to act quickly because you'd imagine Man Utd and Chelsea will also be looking for a manager.

I think we would hold off making any decision until we see what's left to choose from anyway.

Let's forget about challenging for the top 4/5.... this season we're struggling to challenge/compete on the pitch against the teams around us, teams with lower spends!

But of course, its a 'transitional season', that's all. :snod:

I am not defending this season but have seen people saying we need a manager to "take us to the next level ". The next level for us is basically everything we have achieved over the last 4 years and no manager is going to be able to come in and improve on that.

For me it’s more about getting some fresh ideas and a style of play that can help us sustainably compete at the top of the table.

I love Eddie and in an ideal world, we go on a run and win the next 5 games - and then he stays on. But I just can’t see what we’re trying to do and what style we’re trying to get to right now. This has been the killer for the season to me. We’ve looked fantastic in some games this season when it felt like the team of old, but most games have been horrendous. We’ve lost our all action in your face approach and replaced it with a ponderous and error riddled structure. Maybe a new manager changes this, makes us harder to beat and develops a way of playing that helps us win more games consistently - the way Emery is doing it at Villa

I’m repulsed by the idea of Maresca, I don’t rate him at all.

Doubt he'd entertain us if he's waiting for Pep to bounce. Im not a fan either tbh.

He's the one top team coach who Howe seemed to beat pretty regularly, at least that's how it seems to me.

Iraola agreed to signing 18yr old Kroupie last summer who has started a lot of their games, scoring 10 premier league goals this season and 19yr old Rayan in January who has stated 7 games, scoring 2 goals.

That Iraola is happy and willing to start young players is completely in line with an element of the transfer strategy we need to adopt and a massive tick.

To me it is clear Howe has a cautious nature when it comes to developing youth. Apparently we were looking at Rayan in January, Howe has the final say so I can only assume he didn’t fancy taking a ‘risk’ on a 19yr old for the first team. Just taking it at face value, Bournemouth & Iraola’s talent ID was clearly better in that situation.

Ultimately happy if Howe is manager next season - it would need to be someone next level to replace him and I see Poch as one of the few attainable albeit have to wait until the World Cup is done.

Iraola suggestions are the ultimate disrespect to Howe - anyone who suggests him is not a true fan of our club.

Why? Howe is struggling and we are struggling.

This eddie is the best we can get malarkey is just stupid. Iraola could be great with squad rotation and cope with the extra games none of us know.
