I'll be stunned if we make any signing over £8m for the foreseeable future. A fee of £10m+ means big wages and then the rest of the squad want increases etc etc. Not going to happen. It's Jan 09 all over again, but worse. And some are actually defending Ashley. Laughable. Not suggesting it's all down to him but it's another factor in the mix and without disrespecting Carroll too much I don't think he's the sharpest tool in the box. Yeah, that's cos house prices have gone up, dickhead, unless you're planning on selling your house and not buying another one this doesn't really help you. The fact is that we now need a striker in a market where a 22 year old who's had half a good season costs £35m, we're not the most attractive prospect and no-one's going to give us a deal because they know we've got money in the bank. As surely if he hasn't, he'd want to set that straight. To be fair, even if true why would he want to do that? He'd be effectively telling his new employers and their fans that he didn't want to go there. No he wouldn't, how many players leave and go to other clubs without handing in transfer requests? Do we assume all of them didn't want to be their? All he'd be doing is explaining that he didn't actually ask to leave. Sorry Dave, didn't see your reply somehow. He'd simply need to say "no" when asked if he handed in a transfer request, which he almost certainly will be, that's hardly controversial from a Liverpool point of view.
