West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

Recommended Posts

FUCK!  Liverpool are going to be £15m up with a better striker.

And I bet the £35m goes straight into Ashleys skyrocket prior to him selling up.

Are you INSANE!!!!!!!!!!..........Carroll isnt fit to lace Torres boots give yourself a shake

Got to love the delusion of people thinking this money will be reinvested in the squad to a decent degree. I'll be stunned if we make any signing over £8m for the foreseeable future. A fee of £10m+ means big wages and then the rest of the squad want increases etc etc.

Not going to happen.

I don't trust Pardew to spend it wisely anyway. The jobs fucked all the way round.

If I were a Liverpool fan, I'd be livid with this.

That they're leaving the transfer window far, far stronger than they were on Jan 1st?

Yeah, livid. Clueless.

Whereas we are leaving it far weaker - currently 3 players down an dour best player gone.  And virtually all of the lower half teams have strengthened.

It's Jan 09 all over again, but worse.

And some are actually defending Ashley. Laughable.

There's a big difference between defending someone, and not blaming them for something that isn't their fault.

You don't think we could have easily kept him? He wanted the money, man.

He's building the new Arsenal man..

He also rejected Liverpool's bid. If he wanted it that badly, he wouldn't have rejected it.

I'll be more stunned if we don't hear of the losses the club is making, debt, hidden debt etc. before being told we haven't got a pot to piss in again this summer and start scraping under the barrel for shit Bosmans.

No-one speculating on the role of the agent here.. wonder how much he's pocketed out of this deal. Not suggesting it's all down to him but it's another factor in the mix and without disrespecting Carroll too much I don't think he's the sharpest tool in the box.

I'm almost sure that Carroll will have also been on the phone to Nolan for advice.

I said that earlier bud. I am expecting pathetic late bids for players near the close of the window.

do people think if carroll hadn't put in a transfer request that the transfer would never have happened?

seems obvious that the club were actively negotiating but not budging from a high valuation. carroll's just forced their hand after getting itchy feet about time running out, but you dont spend the entire day negotiating with a buying club if you have no intention of selling. the stuff the liverpool journo leaked about bid amounts suggests Ashley was trying to start something of an auction.

Panic buy on Liverpools behalf, AC9 was decent but honestly not worth 35m...never in a million years.

I'd have taken it if i was Chairman :)

Shame to be loosing a good prospect, but who knows what the future holds.

Going on about how great the money is reminds me of people who were thrilled about the housing market going crazy five years ago "My house is worth three times what I paid for it!" Yeah, that's cos house prices have gone up, dickhead, unless you're planning on selling your house and not buying another one this doesn't really help you.  The fact is that we now need a striker in a market where a 22 year old who's had half a good season costs £35m, we're not the most attractive prospect and no-one's going to give us a deal because they know we've got money in the bank.

Nonsense. It's called getting the best deal.

What are the conspiracy theorists going to do if Carroll doesn't come out and contradict the club's claim that he handed in a transfer request? As surely if he hasn't, he'd want to set that straight.

To be fair, even if true why would he want to do that? He'd be effectively telling his new employers and their fans that he didn't want to go there.

No he wouldn't, how many players leave and go to other clubs without handing in transfer requests?  Do we assume all of them didn't want to be their?  All he'd be doing is explaining that he didn't actually ask to leave.

Sorry Dave, didn't see your reply somehow.

He'd simply need to say "no" when asked if he handed in a transfer request, which he almost certainly will be, that's hardly controversial from a Liverpool point of view.

Don't really rate him that much tbh and absolutely ecstatic with the fee, i'm just furious at the tiny amount of time we now have to get a replacement.

Well, I saw this coming for a few days now. I'd like to think someone at the club has.

Yep, to make it look liked they "tried" to replace Carroll.
