The group have handed United 24 hours to accept their bid, which meets the asking price, or they will walk away. Indeed, having provided proof of funds yet again, it is believed that both Seymour Pierce and the Newcastle regime are playing hardball. The group insist they are the only serious bidders, but the Singapore-base Profitable Group claim that they bid for the club over a week ago. If true, that sounds class - someone who knows that things need to be done quickly.

Either accept it or fuck off.'. Probably more bollocks though.

The reports were that Freddie's consortium had bid below the asking price and was hoping that no other bidders would emerge.

Guest Phil K
The ripping and tearing of this club by Asley and co and the lawyers is mind bogglingly insane and quite lunatic. Here they have a potential for a gold mine if they get it right, and they seem determined to go the other way and imitate Leeds.
ujpest doza
Alover as in, Harper not happy, fans not happy, no sale yet, Ashley being honest, wants £100mill no more no less, no bidder has paid that asmount I now have no doubts that Ashley has no intention of selling NUFC and that he will put the club into administration if and when it suits him. How would he benefit from that? I think the land is worth more than the club What land? Land that was earmarked for the hotel and casino that was part of the deal to buy the club originally. All rumours about administration i have heard have involved this land not being part of the deal.
Ketsbaia
anyone else notice the pattern? good news day, bad news day, good day, bad day, good day, bad day...... todays just the good day, y'know there'll be no truth in it. its just a breather til tomorrow's "Beye has joined Sunderland after MA takes the club off the market. Meanwhile Shearer has gone back to MotD so Kinnear has been appointed" headline (albeit with a pun in there somewhere)

Carlito
Any speculation as to who this is putting the bid in then? The Malaysians? The pope? Santa? Either way, this should give us an indication as to whether Ashley is being genuine or not, if they have indeed met the asking price. No excuses now, but knowing Ashley's camp there'll be no nothing. gazzaA2
We need a takeover. We know this but at the same time can we afford to rush it? This could be the biggest decision the club will ever make. Get the right people in and in 5 years, we could be back in Europe and going well in the Premiership, with full houses every week. Get it wrong and in 5 years we may be struggling in League One like Leeds, with a half empty ground.

You've got a point there mate, problem is it is Mike Ashley making the decision so he will act purely in his own interests. He won't care who the buyer is as long as they come up with the money. All we can do is cross our fingers that it doesn't turn out to be another disaster.

Spider Jerusalem
The shit handling of this has been deliberate, to beat us to a pulp, drag us down and leave us so punch-drunk that when fat Fred rides back into town he's lauded as the returning, conquering hero. LoveItIfWeBeatU
God knows what the hell is really going on but surely one of the reasons Mike Ashley wants to sell is that he doesn't want to have to keep paying the current players wages. If he doesn't sell soon he'll be stuck with those players and a club he doesn't want until at least the January transfer window. If he lets the club go to ruin as he is currently doing his asset will be worth less and less. Is this a case of 'I'd rather destroy my own asset than sell it to you for what you're offering'? indi
mayb ashley was gonna give kinnear the job until he got this bid? and thats why for the statement? Or perhaps it was a huge steaming pile of bullshit that some journo dreamed up in the pub knowing that so many Newcastle fans had totally lost the plot that if he published a negative story about the club they'd lap it up and ask for seconds. And people imply that I'm the one being irrational!!
Guest Stephen927
I think what worries me most about how long this takeover is taking is our squad will only deplete over time as people leave and no one will come in. Every team in the league will regard the game with Newcastle United as one of the biggest fixtures of the year for them, to heap more pressure on us and try and keep us in the league, every player will be pumped up and determined to beat us.
