madras
harper getting blame for the goal ? some people know nothing, some others have favourites whom they seek to protect, some more dislike others in such a way they'll seek to blame them for the rains and wrong lottery numbers. midds
Harper did nothing wrong for their goal. I've had many a pop at him in the past but he couldn't have done much more than he actually did.
Disco
Popular scapegoat is popular. As could easily be predicted Tavernier is raw/naive as fuck and badly needs games under belt learning against better teams. Get the kid out on loan.
Guest Rey Mysterio
If you all watch it again there's plenty more he could have done. No one's making out like it was a howler but it was poor keeping and the type of goal that was becoming all too frequent towards the end of his tenure as first choice. On the brightside, at least he's not Charles Itandje.

Watched else could he have done ? came out to narrow the angle, cut off the near post and tried to block as much as possible so it wasn't slipped under him. good ball caught out an inexperienced defender (like to think tav will learn quicker in future as it wasn't the first time he was caught out with that ball) and was well finished. Chris_R
I think we'll only be able to establish if Harper's to blame once he finishes getting down for the shot.

Already mentioned it earlier tonight but as soon as he left his line, the finish becomes easier and even after making that decision, his technique was horrid. It's almost as if his body won't allow him to do what he wants any more as it's some of the absolute basics.

Given the phase of play and where the ball came from (not far from the centre circle) he (correctly)wasn't stood on his line, if he had stayed where he was he would have been in no mans land and the lad would have had an even easier chance. Chase
Maybe I'm being too harsh, but did he ever look like getting close to any shots tonight, unless they were directly at him it looked as though he had no chance in getting anywhere near them. Guest
That was inexcusable that second goal. No professional keeper should be beat like that.
Yorkie
How bad must Elliot be, man? Harper was absolutely hopeless like. Really worryingly bad.

It would probably have been out of reach but he should have made the attempt, you could also argue he could have been a touch more to his left. CaliMag
... here we go. The second goal was well taken with power. Harper was well beaten as he was favoring the near post (not a mistake, but a decision). If he had acrobatically dove to the left after the shot was taken (a la Given last year) he would have looked stylish and still missed the shot ... as would Krul or just about any other keeper. stozo
Love Harper for the way he's stayed loyal to the club but surely Tim Krul with a dodgy elbow could have done better for second goal.
Mr. Snrub
Good bloke, shite keeper. Might put an end to the 'he's the best sub goalie around' comments.

He was still gash the rest of the game as well though. Tim needs to come back quick or we'll lose a fair amount of points, the difference is fucking huge. Decky
People expect him to be good? He's 37 and spent most of his career sitting on the bench. It's the clubs fault for not getting in another keeper, can't really blame Harper for lacking in sharpness and being at retirement age. He wants to play and if the club is going to offer him the chance to play he's going to take it. We need a new, young keeper next summer at the latest.
