jdckelly
Am I the only one who thought that tackle wasn't worthy of a red card btw? i think he should have got an award for the tackle on alonso, never liked him
JH
And we're kidding ourselves if we think Barton will play. It's just another body to get behind Nolan and Smith in the pecking order - he'll probably be played on the fucking wing
Mistle17
Am I the only one who thought that tackle wasn't worthy of a red card btw? Just watched it again now. I think it was a tad harsh, but in the modern game (against foreign players) you just can't do that sort of thing. Simple as that really.
Guest firetotheworks
Am I the only one who thought that tackle wasn't worthy of a red card btw? Nah, I remember saying that it wasn't a red at the time. He went in strong, which is no problem, but when it's Barton you get a reputation, even though on field he's not really that kind of Cattermole/cuntish type of player. Ronaldo
He might replace Jonas. I sincerely hope not though, and i'm a fan of Barton.
The Prophet
Will probably be dumped out wide at the expense of Routledge.
Cronky
I thought it was definitely a red. I could well understand Shearer blowing up at him, because with that stupid, selfish act, we had lost our best player at a crucial stage.
Mr. Snrub
Will probably be dumped out wide at the expense of Routledge. Hughton won't have the stones to drop Barton. The worst thing is, it will probably be the opposite, dropping Wayne to accomodate Smith and Butt away from home and shoving Barton out on the right. Kaizero
Am I the only one who thought that tackle wasn't worthy of a red card btw? Was definitely not a red card, not even a yellow, it was clear in the replays he was on the ball first.
Thespence
He will join the his fellow plodders & be used on rotation in the middle. Will next season be the final year of his contract?

Jordan
does rob styles still ref in the prem? wasnt that the one that sent him off and had some sort of vendetta against us last season
Guest Heneage
After today, Butt for Barton is like Ranger for Torres.
LoveItIfWeBeatU
http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/newcastle-utd/2010/01/31/newcastle-lose-out-in-chase-for-victor-moses-79310-25723350/2/ Joey Barton has targeted the Championship clash with Coventry City on February 17 for his comeback from a far more serious injury than first thought. Barton will return to training tomorrow after being out for more than four months with what was believed to be a broken metatarsal. But his recovery has been delayed because the full diagnosis was that he had fractured what is known as the host bone in the foot, rather than just a single metatarsal. Dave
Sadly I'm finding myself really hoping he comes back ASAP and is bloody fantastic.
colinmk
Hope we get rid of all our 'central midfielders' in the summer. With £200k off the wage bill I'm sure we could get in some actual football players.
Village Idiot
How do you see Barton in your midfield? I always thought that his best times at City were when he was used as a more forward-minded CM and not as DM.
Guest sicko2ndbest
A side that includes a fit Barton is far more appealing than what we have. If Hughton has the opportunity to play: Harper Simpson Williamson Taylor Jose Routledge Barton Guthrie Jonas Loven Ameobi For at least 50% of our final fixtures we will be sure to go up
Ronaldo
Williamson is better than Colo now, based on one game?
