Disco
Be interesting to know how the club was sold to Cabaye, Ba & Marveux. If it was sold on false promises this reputation we've built up in France will surely soon begin to evaporate. On a separate note if we don't want to spend money we should surely be at least looking to the loan Market to bolster our paperthin squad.

If our squad is thin (outside a good 1st 11) and the bench weak how long do they keep buying, 'next transfer window/next season' stories. Doubly worse if we sell the likes of Tiote as soon as a 15m bid comes in.

maze
£7m Gael sparks Bridge Toon bid Published: 02 Jul 2011 Add a comment Add a comment (0) MANCHESTER CITY hope £7million Gael Clichy will be theirs by Tuesday's start of pre-season training. The capture of the Arsenal left-back is likely to hasten the exit of ex-England ace Wayne Bridge, 30, who is wanted by Newcastle. ponsaelius
Least likely all of all the transfer links so far. 30, shit and on ludicrous wages.
midds
Can't see the logic of us bringing Bridge up here or him wanting to come up here tbh.
jdckelly
not bloody likely with his wages unless its a loan with them covering half the wages which also isn't likely.

oldtype
We've done every stupid thing in the books since Ashley bought the club, but we haven't really been in the business of signing overpriced, over-the-hill players excluding that first summer. Ronaldo
4 years ago i'd have loved us to sign him. Now i'd rather we played Neil Taylor, who i've seen twice.

TRon
not bloody likely with his wages unless its a loan with them covering half the wages which also isn't likely. I would imagine he'd drop his wages for first team football and City don't need him. Sadly I can see us looking at him as a short term solution with Taylor liked up to take over with a year's experience behind him. I hope I'm wrong but this looks like a realistic possibility for me. Big Geordie
Just read about the ITK stuff - not surprised if it turns out to be true. The Carroll cash was never gonna all be spent on transfers - it's more likely being used to support the infrastructure of the club. If this is the way the club is going to be ran over the next few years, then it's going to end up making someone a lot of money, even if we only break even next year. Years after that will be running at more and more profit being made. I would take Bridge if Enrique leaves, but only on loan and if some of his wages are covered by Citeh. Then again, he's struck me as a player in recent years who is content to rake in the wages with giving little back in return.
Guest BlacknWhiteArmy
Bridge was a quality player three or four years ago. No way would I have him now.
Ishmael
Not sure how the club investing money in the club is a bad thing BG? Not sure how making the club profitable is a bad thing either?

Big Geordie
Not sure how the club investing money in the club is a bad thing BG? Not sure how making the club profitable is a bad thing either? Profit is only any good if it is reinvested in the side inorder to make it better. If that doesn't happen then it leaves two possiblities - that we will be being fattened up for a sale (in the medium-long term) or the owner wants to start clawing back what is owed to him in terms of the loans. NUFC has pretty much always been ran for profit for those that run the club, at the expense of the side. However it's true that Mike Ashley is probably the first owner that put his own cash into the club, but that is because he had to because of his own stupidity. If the intent is to tread water in the PL, whilst being ran for profit - where is the ambition that will attract quality players? This is what happened in the 60's, 70's, and 80's and we all know what happened there eventually.
