Amazed you can post this. Such a simplification of the reality its practically an untruth.

We offer a stable club, that has been top ten for years now - as opposed to a club that has just rebounded from division 2. A club that has had a manager in place for almost a decade (compared to playing under ten plus managers with probably a new one coming in the new season) - a manager that gets the best out of players, whose stock normally rises under his tutelage and who go on to play for their respective national teams. A manager that has won manager of the year three times. We have a state of the art training facility and we are in a better position than Newcastle to push for honours next year. 6th or 7th place normally is Europe and we were unlucky not to secure it last season.

Suggesting that its just a few league places is disingenuous. If this was purely a footballing decision its extremely doubtful Newcastle would have even had a look in.

Alas once again the toon have gazumped a player with their mighty cheque book of power. If history shows us anything - Emre, Smith, (christ I can't remember the others but there was a few wasn't there) - its that Moyes will use Newcastle to his advantage once more, as a device that sniffs out the mercenaries who are content to draw mega wages whilst languishing in the lower regions of the league and barely breaking a sweat on the pitch.

Sign for NEWCASTLE vs Sign for EVERTON

Play under Pardew vs Play under Moyes - Given that most players stock rises under Moyes thats a vote for Everton. Especially considering that Pardew will probably be fired at some point in the new season.

Newcastle team aspirations may be high but the reality is a mid table finish vs Everton have the potential to finish in a top six position or higher and are expected to finish top 8 come rain or shine. That's another vote for Everton.

So as far as team, manager and aspirations go, Everton is a better club to play for. Historically better too. The only reason to sign for Newcastle is if believe you are suddenly at a peak of popularity, and you are unlikely to do better, and the best thing to do is cash your chips in and play for a club that wont have grandiose expectations of you playing well or working hard but will be content to watch you draw the ludicrous wages they offered whilst managing six goals the entire season.

he'll be injured for half the season as well I reckon.

Interesting to see the views from the outside, anyway.

I feel like I've stepped back in time to 2005 . For a mercenary Ba sure knew a lot about our recent history in his interview.

I see the point but Everton can't really progress as things stand, whereas our potential is pretty clearly there.  We're a very up-and-down club and if you catch us on one of those upward trajectories then there aren't many better teams to play for.  That's what he's conveniently ignoring and is a big part of why a lot of players take the gamble and sign for us ahead of more 'stable' clubs.

Anyway they've beaten us to players in the past (Beckford, Baines?) and these things happen.  They'd not be so arsed if they weren't so desperate for a striker.

bitter Scousers. Absolutely no surprises there.

Deluded as well if they think a top 6 finish is possible. Spurs, City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man U all way ahead of them

there's a couple of good points in there but he overplays his hand.

Newcastle can just as easily point to a state of the art training ground but can also draw on things like a bigger fanbase, a much bigger and far more modern stadium, and more likely a higher profile, especially in France where we've had numerous bits of good PR over the past year or so. Ba also mentioned Ben Arfa and Cabaye as reasons why he has signed for us.

From what we've heard about an incentivised contract, and what we all know about Ashley's frugality, it certainly doesn't look like money has been the prime factor here or that otherwise he would've signed for Everton. The points about Smith, Emre and whoever may have been true a few years ago, but not so much now.

In many ways they can offer a better array of qualities, that's true, especially if stability is what you are looking for. But they need to pull their heads out of their arses and realise that in other ways we are a more attractive option for some players. The idea that they are far and away bigger and better than us is just wrong, in fact in one or two respects the opposite is true.

Many fans has said no way will they sign any good players under Ashley's tight regime, and when we do we are apparently throwing cash around like Shepherd used to do and the good players only choose us because of money. Cause we cant attract any good players unless we pay them 900K/week? Idiots! We are more attractive than they say we are, and i think they know, they just cant hold their hands up and admit it and the only way for them to accept players choosing us instead of them is by saying that we spend silly money on wages which we aren't.

Nothing wrong with them thinking they're a bigger club than us, but that doesn't mean everyone must choose them over us. Ridiculous to say wages are even a part of it, even before we knew it was a small basic wage filled with bonuses. What this probably comes down to is history, and potential, even if they are in a better position than us, we have just as much of a possibility of succeeding and growing as a club as they do.

Idiots.

I wouldn't take anything the Everton fans are saying to heart, it's just sour grapes. Plain and simple.

Like everyone has said, we're not under Shepherd's management anymore. We're simply spending the money from the Carroll sale, and I firmly believe that if we hadn't sold Carroll in January then we wouldn't be throwing much money about in this window in transfer fees. Definitely pleased with this signing but desperately want us to bring N'Zogbia home and also another striker who could be seen as more 'reliable', especially with ACN set to hit us during a difficult period.

Also this wage talk seems entirely baseless to me.

Aye. But like some of you have said, it's a case of sour grapes. Hope we finish above them next year (very do-able imo).
