Lush Vlad
Even if he is fit. We still need a new striker and about 3 more players on top of that.
TRon
Even if he is fit. We still need a new striker and about 3 more players on top of that. In the same way we needed a central defender but we've got too many on the books already so are happy to put our faith in Coloccini, Mbemba and Taylor (back in training this month!) St1pe
I really don't want to be too sceptical about this but it just stinks of a reason not to buy a striker this window. Then once the deadline passes he will in fact be out until March after all.

Unbelievable
From the BBC FA Cup feed: What's going on with Papiss Cisse? One minute he's out for three months, then days later he's back training. Why didn't he just ask for a day off... Steve McClaren explains: "Papiss has been out on the field running and as long as he keeps running, he could be back training next week. "On medical advice, we are letting him rehabilitate and he is progressing very quickly in that rehab. There may come a point where he breaks down or he comes right the way through and he is fit. "Hopefully we will see him soon."

Lush Vlad
Who's in charge here? Papiss Cisse is set to undergo surgery in a blow to Newcastle United. The striker has been sidelined since before Christmas with a groin problem. And head coach Steve McClaren was hopeful Cisse would not need an operation which would rule him out for "two to three" months. McClaren revealed last week that Cisse had made a tentative return to the training field. Weve had second and third opinions, said McClaren, whose relegation-threatened side take on West Ham United at St James's Park on Saturday. They have said an operation is that length of time, but you could try it and see how it goes. If it goes, youll have the operation. So he has stepped up, stepped up and stepped up. "The injury is complicated. It has surprised me. Its a groin strain. How severe well find out probably the middle of next week." However, Cisse will now undergo surgery which will rule him out for months. McClaren has just one fit senior striker Aleksandar Mitrovic available until one or more striking reinforcements arrive in this month's transfer window, though Ayoze Perez and Siem de Jong can also play up front. Mitrovic scored from the penalty spot in Tuesday night's 3-3 draw with Manchester United. The result ended a run of four successive 1-0 defeats. SEMTEX
I reckon the player tends to be the one to decide whether they should have surgery or not like. Like fuck I'd be letting Derek and Steve decide whether I went under the knife or not.
