TRon
Lee Dixon @LeeDixon2 1h Just spoke to Arsene. He's very happy about Sanchez and Debuchy For a club in the CL they are two quality additions, so no surprise he's happy.

bhoywhonder
£10M is absolutely w*** for Debuchy. bah Could be a hundred million, could be a fiver, it doesn't matter. Not a penny will end up back on the pitch as a replacement.
toontownman
Think that any people still upset by this type of sale need to realise that part of our stategy in attracting players here is telling them this can be your "stepping stone club". This isn't new.. Right or wrong is how we have attracted players here. Hopefully they perform well and push the team higher or reclaim big fees when they move. Not that we couldn't attract similar or the same player with a different manager and selling angle but this is and has been for years our chosen selling angle. Always going to be someone leaving, probably even if we scale champions league fringes. This was the chosen outcome when Debuchy signed up.

Yeah, I think certainly when we signed Cabaye and Debuchy it was with the promise that we would let them leave if a Champions League club came in for them and offered a decent fee. In which case, it's important that we keep our word. Realistically, a lot of the players that could improve us would also attract the interest of CL clubs, so I daresay in some cases the club either makes that undertaking or loses the signing. I don't think this is a policy that goes back a long way though. Fearless Fred seemed to overcome a player's reluctance by throwing money at them. Fuzzy
Dunno if posted, but: http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2014/total-agreement-reached-for-transfer-of-mathieu-debuchy/ total agreement for the transfer of Mathieu Debuchy has now been reached between all three parties involved. Arsenal have agreed a £10m fee for the player plus bonuses thought to be in the region of £2.5m. The player had already agreed a 4 year contract with the club earlier this week and will now seek to go on holiday. The signing and announcement of the transfer is imminent. Mattoon
It wouldn't be such a problem if we were casting our net with the transfer money. Everyone understands we're a selling club now and a stepping stone for potential talent, it's just that Fatshit keeps shoving the money down his elasticated waste band instead of reinvesting to keep us ticking along, the fat sweaty mess. The idea should be to cash in, reinvest and slowly turn the team around, there's no need to "do a Leeds" if we just reinvest the inflated transfer fees we get for the likes of Cabaye and Debuchy. Instead the money keeps disappearing up the horizontally challenged ones black hole.

Sifu
Quite the double signing for Arsenal really, all credit to them tbh. Best of luck to Debuchy too, no ill feelings towards him whatsoever and if we're being brutally honest, he's doing the right thing by moving. He's not going to get anywhere here.
