Cajun
Is defending that much more powder puff in France? I don't know much about ligue 1 but it doesn't come across like eredivise and a lot of good defenders come out of that league.
Hanshithispantz
Ibra has a similar record this season in France to what he did last season in Italy if that means anything (it's slightly better like).

I don't know much about ligue 1 but it doesn't come across like eredivise and a lot of good defenders come out of that league. There's physical defenders in Ligue 1 but the style of play they defend against and consequent defensive attitude is completely different. Defending there is more tactical and subtle, here centre backs are far more hands-on, particularly in the box with shirt-pulling, holding and general scuffling going on. That's natural though, as the majority of teams in the league cross the ball a lot instead of playing it into the box, so teams set up to counter that. I just don't think Gouffran's got that level of power in him to make it work as a lead striker here, especially considering the way we play. His wide role was different at Bordeaux too, he was more of a winger when played there, not a wing forward, and they didn't have a tendency to knock lots of balls in like we do. I think he'll get plenty of opportunities playing where he is now, it suits his game more, which is based around quick and intelligent movement, especially with Debuchy's delivery improving. Its a lot like Italy from back in the day actually except the attacking and midfield players don't have anywhere near the same talent. But defensively and physique wise its a very tough league, its just very slow and lacks talent in some cases. Probably why we scout there tbf because physical wise there is not a lot to adapt to, even if this league is a lot quicker as Debuchy and Sissoko have said. Parky
Personally think he's better than Remy.
Unlucky Luque
I wouldn't mind seeing him as a central striker in a 4-3-3 i suppose, not suggesting it in that current system works well and i want to see cisse scoring again but this could be a nice formation to control games possession wise Krul Deb Yanga-Mbiwa Colo Santon Tiote Anita Cabaye Sissoko HBA Gouffran Anita for Cisse. No offence intended but that's the stupidest thing I'll read this week. If Cissé got injured, I would hope that we'd try something similar tbh. In that case, it needs moar Shola
Ronaldo
Rather start Yanga-Mbiwa up front.

Magpie
Few blokes who sit behind me at the match hate this bloke like, constantly going on saying he's shite and was just a panic buy. Quite staggering to be honest. They were overjoyed when he was taken off yesterday.

Rocker
Don't understand the logic. He's been just as influential on our games as Sissoko, very important player.
Dr Venkman
People are weird when judging new players, a mate of mine had no time for Santon either when he first joined. I really like Gouffran, I think it's down in no small part to having wanted that sort of player in the team for a long time now, he brings a lot
Guest nufc_89
My only concern about Gouffran is his finishing. But even so, he's still extremely important to us with his intelligent movement on and off the ball. Just look what happened when he left the field againt Spurs

Possibly wanted a nice, expensive, flashy signing so when Remy fell through and we picked up this lad for just over a million they see it as the cheap alternative rather than judging him on his ability. Skirge
Just needs to make his mind up sooner, make a decision and follow it through, had loads of chances to shoot sooner rather than take more touches. Huge talent though great effort have a really good feeling about him, gonna come good in a big way.

Quite staggering to be honest. They were overjoyed when he was taken off yesterday. These are people who are actually watchign the games live too. I just can't believe this sort of thing when I read it. This guy has made such a huge difference to the team. No offence to your friends, but I can only conclude they are mentally deranged. Some people are just simpletons and will judge anyone who is labelled a striker in some sense, by how many goals they score, and I can only assume that's what this is about. Panic buy my arse ... I mean my God, the guy cost about a million pounds for goodness sake!
Gallowgate Toon
He's missing a true wide man at the minute, his movement in and around the box is brilliant, he just needs someone else other than Cabaye to supply those dashes in the final third. He'll score plenty with HBA in the team, but it just shows how much we need some alternative wide options.

They're certainly not my friends but like I say their banter's usually spot on (slate Ameobi/Pardew etc) however they all (4 or 5 of them) seem to hate Gouffran. Mind you Tiote also felt their wrath yesterday however that was probably more deserved.
