Maybe you've just got a positive outlook or a reduced sense of danger.

I've felt very unsafe in London. One of my best mates lived in Brixton early 00's and she woke to find a crackhead burglar in her room in the middle of the night and on another occasion her housemate was followed home by a random who stoved his head in and robbed him at the front door.

Used to shit myself going to visit her.

And I got wanked at in the bogs at Waterloo station. That's never happened to me anywhere else in the world and I've been to many toilets in many places.

Yes, London is much nicer than it was. But it's still a massive city where a fuckload of crime happens every single day of the week.

That's my point though, all these hotspots are nothing like they were many moons ago.

Not even at its worst have I felt unsafe in London, in more recent times it's borderline laughable to suggest so.

Yeah I’m sure I’d feel unsafe walking through some notorious estates or dark alleyways but I avoid them [emoji38]. Feeling unsafe is subjective - doesn’t mean you are in danger! That’s not to say you shouldn’t be smart about decisions, but it’s something you get used to. Limited circles I know but I don’t know a single person who moved here that complains about their safety (or how unfriendly it is for that matter).

Mrs got her phone robbed whilst being 7 months pregnant

My Mrs got her phone nicked whilst on the school run. Nearly had mine taken on the Underground. It definitely is a problem.

Says a lot that a player I don’t consider to be thought that highly of by the fans feels that way. Imagine what it must feel like to be a Bruno, a Tino or a Tonali. Puts into context how shit fans of other clubs must be in all honesty

iirc he had a few decent streaks but he never recovered from rafa realising that we played better without him with 3 at the back and schar quarterbacking from cb. Weird i remember that but cant remember who was partnering Hayden in the middle then...god our squad then was rubbish

I liked him for the Hollywood passes but his form was erratic and he did seem to be injured a lot. He’s one whose days were numbered as soon as the takeover happened but he left with goodwill. I don’t think anyone would have complained if he’d been around another year or two.

I thought he was really good under Howe tbh, really enjoyed seeing him with focus.

Aye he would have offered something off the bench imo. I feel like if he'd been a few years younger he would have stuck.

It seems to be a really bizarre life to be a professional footballer.

All the money that you could ever dream of in one hand and absolute loneliness in the other.

It can be argued that it is a short career and the sacrifice to be financially secure for several lifetimes may be worth it but, the career extends through what could be argued are the best years of your life.

How many times have you heard of an ex footballer suffering with depression and anxiety once they have retired from the game?  When all you have in your life is a dressing room and team mates to suddenly go to nothing must be a really difficult transition.

It is no surprise that so many ex footballers are trying to stay connected by getting involved in coaching, management and punditry even though they really do not need the extra money, it is just trying to stay connected to something...  the only thing they have known since being a child!

Watched the first half last night and it was really interesting. He's obviously quite a private man away from football and has perhaps used this to raise awareness of his past issues with sleeping pills. Chris Brown did say that it was rife in football. ???

That really is bizarre. Footballers need to develop some interests away from football, money and texting.

"Shelvey reportedly reacted poorly to being named on the substitutes' bench for the upcoming 22 April fixture against Liverpool and was sent home by Forest manager Steve Cooper"

Sounds like he wanted first team football but sure he could've found something in UK.

My sympathy level is low.

To an extent it's difficult. There is a lot they aren't allowed to do, because there's an injury risk, and a lot they can't do because they're famous and will be constantly followed and bothered.

I think that's why a lot of older players are good golfers, as it's one of the few sports they are allowed to play in their own time. Nowadays I get the impression they're all big gamers.
