Jonjo Shelvey (now playing for Çaykur Rizespor, on loan from Nottingham Forest)

Southampton's first goal was all from his fucking shite free kick. Then the sitter he missed to make it 4-1 was shocking. Score that and all the shit that happened after that doesn't happen. Shite performance.

If Graham Jones is really the tough fucker he's meant to be, he's got to pull shelvey aside today and ask him what the fuck was going on today.

that freekick that led to their goal and then that lazy attempt to score from a couple of yards out nearly undid all the good work every other player did.

insult to the badge giving this cunt the armband.

Him and Hendrick have to go. That's two spaces that could be filled with competent players in crucial positions. You have to have high energy levels in the middle and always be available... out of those two one gasses and can't defend and the other goes missing and has no real obvious talents. Horrible midfielders. For all of Shelvey's talent with the ball, we don't see it enough to warrant his deficiencies. Really dislike him.

The fact he's a mainstay in the side really represents Bruce, and his idendity he's put into this side since taking over from Rafa. Every manager will change things when taking over a new job, and his faith and reliance on Shelvey is so Brucey.

No idea what Hull fans thought of Huddlestone playing each week years back, but just reminds me of that. A reliance on a 'technique' player to provide creativity of passing range from midfield - he'll then off set that with run around merchants in Hayden/Hendrick like he did with Meyler and off top of my head Mason? at Hull.

All managers that are doing anything worthwhile in the game in recent years have had their midfield full of athletic players, with mobility that are drilled and coached into passing the ball, receiving it in tight spaces, rotating space etc.

It's like Bruce things he's some golden goose, a mystical player that can loft a lovely 60 yard diagonal a few times a game, and without his inclusion there is no hope whatsoever. Fanciful. Dozens of players in midtable or lower that are just as good on the ball as Shelvey, but can also get around the pitch!

Gifted Southampton a goal and f***ed up a sitter for us.

He is f***ing s****.

He gifted them both goals today.

First one was a hilariously bad FK that lead to a Southampton counter and when he missed that sitter Southampton went up the other end and scored within a couple of minutes. It should’ve been 4-1 with us keeping 11 players on the field, but instead we were put under ridiculous pressure.

He’s done in the PL.

if he's done in the PL how come Bruce will pick him every game that he's fit as long as he's the manager. He's done implies he's not going to play anymore, he is, so is Hendrick, get used to it.

Unfortunately it's that talent with the ball which cons the less demanding fans into thinking he's something special, and that includes Bruce. Genuine football people want to see their central midfielders in the thick of the battle for 90 mins, not keeping a safe distance from the action, strolling in front of the back four and pinging a few long passes here and there.

Getting Hull promoted, resigning in hope of something bigger and better, but only Aston Villa in Championship would hire you would also imply being done in the PL.

Getting sacked by Villa in mid-table after failing to get promoted, then being hired by Sheffield Wednesday would also imply being done in the PL.

Sadly no longer being able to cut it playing or managing in the Premier League isn't important to anything Newcastle United are about anymore.

Shelveys deficiancies would be so bad if he had a midfield partner who complimented him, but we have hendrick.

Its not a partnership. Jones needs to find the right combination of skill and graft and at the moment, weve got neither.

Struggle to understand how he's so bad at set-pieces. They're pretty much all terrible.

so the guy never could run/lazy and now his hollywood balls are turning to shit.  So what does Shelvey now bring to the team?  And that question goes to Mr Bruce!

It's not just the passenger or the horrific set pieces that erase the hurt of a broken robert taking corners under Souness..That's also a couple of games in a row he has lost the ball and shown his old vindictive side lunging in for tackles he cant win because he is frustrated. Been lucky twice now the timing was just in his favour  or it would have been 2 red offences.

Maybe jones can have a word because he is spiralling and back to his old pre-Rafa self and comfort zone. What he brings in terms of an eye for a pass is far outweighed by his liability to the team.
