Unbelievable
Urgh, just read that he was due to fly out to France a few hours before the earthquake to find himself a new club, after being granted permission from Hatayspor. Decided to stay after scoring the winner the evening before. A proper sliding doors moment. Absolutely gutted for all the victims in Turkey and Syria, but this just adds another layer of sadness. Rest in peace Christian.
Pokerprince2004
Just seen he scored a 90th minute winner for his club literally the day before the earthquake in the Turkish league. Devastating how you can be so joyful one moment and life just changes completely the next day. R.I.P Christian Atsu

Unbelievable
Great article on him here at the time he left us: https://theathletic.com/2703992/2021/07/14/christian-atsu-disagreeing-with-bruce-being-shoved-by-benitez-howes-tough-training-and-nearly-joining-liverpool/?amp=1 Such a positive outlook and seemed to have developed a genuine affinity for Newcaste. Miggys First Goal
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Probably knew it was coming, but there was always that slight glimmer of hope, especially when you see them still pulling people out alive. RIP, Christian. Superior Acuña
His free kick at Cardiff is a great memory of mine. I'd gone years without seeing us win away, and visiting from Chicago even my two previous Championship games (home and away) had been defeats. That beautiful scoop of a free kick gave me that elusive away win. What a tragedy - he's younger than me.
