ponsaelius
Was ruined a bit by the surrender against Everton the week later
midds
Wonder if Rafa has prioritised other fixtures and will keep a few key players back for the (far) more winnable games against Brighton and Stoke?
Guest Howaythetoon
I was there that day, Kompany and Toure were immense. Different teams now at both clubs.
xLiaaamx
Remarkable thing about that year is it was the only one Pardew didn't obsess over "Purples" and low and behold the backups actually contributed hugely. Afterwards he stripped away the bench and wondered why he couldn't compete anymore.
Guest Howaythetoon
He still played HBA from the bench though and the football in the main was very Pardewesque...

No Champions League money, but increased expectations from his little old Newcastle and a requirement to strengthen the squad for an extra competition. We signed one fucking player all summer (Anita) and Ashley effectively made it clear that qualifying for Europe shouldn't happen again. Pardew naturally went along with it all, the fucking dickhead. Away Day Gadgie
I was there that day, Kompany and Toure were immense. Different teams now at both clubs. Someone from our end hoyed a banger or some sort of firework into the City fans and they started going mental. The game was pretty forgettable i thought. Roids
Wonder if Rafa has prioritised other fixtures and will keep a few key players back for the (far) more winnable games against Brighton and Stoke? I really hope this is the case, I'll be upset if the likes of Atsu, Gayle, Lascelles, Merino et al play in this game

Alberto2005
I would certainly rest a few. The schedule is hectic and we have a crucial run of games coming up. I'd probably leave Merino out if he's still not fully right and just stick Shelvey in. He's back for this one isn't he? Then I'd rest possibly Atsu/Ritchie and play Murphy and also consider giving Dummett some game time.
Heron
Absolute must win game if we're gonna win the league.
morla84
Potential banana skin, this one. We may slip up, they're a decent side
U2
Potential banana skin, this one. We may slip up, they're a decent side Think they've made a few additions to their squad which may cause us a few problems.
Nate
The streak will end. We'll do it. Bring it on. Siempre es posible. It is actually the kind of game we win - out of nowhere. A classic from the Rafa playbook incoming.
summerof69
we're definitely not winning this like. Just look what Manchester United did to us Man City are another level even to them

madras
Would be just like us to get something here as we all know what would happen if they were on 17 straight defeats. The only thing I'm not expecting is a narrow defeat. We'll get something or take a pounding, nowt in between.
AyeDubbleYoo
I quite like these free hits, no stress involved. We’ll get a chance or two early, hope we can grab a goal. Then we’ll get battered.
