Positive Optimism - Saudi Takeover Edition

Absolute negativity in the other thread and I’ll remind people of this paragraph from Caulkin’s recent article. Absolutely nothing has changed if we stay up and win arbitration PIF will be involved. If the worst case happens, I’m absolutely now convinced Staveley and Rueben’s will assume control. Ashley is done with the club now and this is the reason he is loathe to spend anything on replacing Bruce. However, should all go wrong this week on the pitch the bullet will be fired. Ashley is spending millions on legal fees and make no mistake will move to protect his investment in next week should he need to.

‘Far from being put off, they say, pushing through the deal is now a matter of national pride to PIF. “They want to keep their distance until it can be resolved,” one source says. “They’re not going to waste time on it unless it can be done. But if the Premier League think they’ve given up, they’re wrong.’

You are a mad man  there isn’t a chance Staveley & Ruebens will buy the club without PIF if they wanted to they’d have done so by now

Why would they have done so by now?

If they wanted to buy the club why wouldn’t they have? That’s 2 takeover attempts Staveley and Ruebens have been involved with. For whatever reason they don’t seem to want to go it alone

The other thread is brutal whenever there's a quiet takeover week.

Yes, it is full of "easily influenced" people, particularly whenever there are no 'leaks' about the Takeover for them to "believe" or to "rubbish" !!

The very best times for our Takeover are when it is totally quiet, as that is the ONLY way that progress (legal and/or arbitration etc) on our Takeover can happen.

That IS exactly what is happening at the moment - as logic surely dictates.

Silence means one the three scenarios:

- Arbitration has begun and they're keeping it quiet.

- Arbitration hasn't begun because they're trying to get it done without the need for middle men.

- Arbitration hasn't begun because Duncan Castle was right and the Saudis have really lost interest and Rafa just told Mike to stick the job where Steve's tongue is.

Not saying I believe she and the Reubens want to go it together, but if they did Staveley might need the cash from her Barclays case.

You’re absolutely wrong Staveley attempted to buy the club in the May prior and thought she could. This was an attempt to keep Benitez before he left, the Saudi’s only came on board in the November. She will own the club regardless. The price will be at a reduced level and I’ll gladly accept you’re apology in a couple of months when i’m right.

She had backers then too wasn’t just her and ruebens. f*** all apology due

Did she who were they ? That’s guesswork on you’re part I’m afraid. We’ll both know who’ll be right in a few months and that will be enough for me 😉

Can’t find the interview with caulkin after she provided proof of 3 bids but I’m sure (but maybe wrong) it said she had investors and in subsequent caulkin articles he mentions investors. At no point was she buying the club herself

I’ll help you out the initial attempt had the backing of Chinese investors, however in the May when Rafa left it’s unknown where the funding was coming from. She’s keen to have Saudi backing as it takes us to next level, however she was happy to go ahead in the May if it had gone ahead. Which makes you’re argument redundant.

So if you’re going to attempt to call people out, you really need to know you’re facts.

Total guesswork she doesn’t have the money to do it herself. You are the most deluded poster I’ve ever seen.

I’ll make it simple for you. It didn’t go ahead in May because it was never going to because she didn’t have the backing

I have more reasoned discussions with my 10 year old

Wrong she ideally wants serious wealth behind it to take us to the next level. PCP are basically an investment fund and she absolutely could go ahead and do a leveraged buy out akin to Burnley.

When has anything Ashley has ever done in relation to Newcastle United made economic or common sense?

When has he had an alleged agreed 350 million price on the table?

When we had two transfer windows and a full season ahead of us. That bid will not be on the table now, just like he upped the asking price in the summer, their valuation of the club will be lower now.

Ashley has shown in the past that he'll gamble on us staying up rather than accept a lower offer.

So you’re saying what I’m trying to say that no bid is on the table and is the exact reason why Ashley has not attempted one thing to guarantee safety as he would have if there had been. If this club is relegated there will be no takeover.

She clearly doesn’t want to do that man. Do you seriously think if we get relegated she’ll try and buy us herself with investment from the Ruebens? So deluded.

As you say she wants backers why would that suddenly change if we get relegated?

No ideally she doesn’t want to do that, but that’s what she’ll do with the intention of running it as a sustainable business. Her first attempt to buy the club was basically her, Rueben’s, Chinese backing and sovereign wealth. Her company already hold a number of investment portfolios whereby sovereign wealth funds have holdings. PCP don’t necessarily need to have 1 major backer to enable deal to happen. As I said previously though she believes ideally you need major money to be able to compete, hence getting the Saudis on board. She will buy the club with a view to running it sustainably and hopefully getting PIF back involved once promoted.

Keep going with the insults though I’m enjoying this 👍

No, I think there is probably some kind of bid still on the table (otherwise, why hasn't the loan between him and PCP been satisfied on Companies House?). I also think it's probably conditional on survival. I think that Ashley has not done one thing to guarantee safety because wants to pocket the full £350m and is willing to take the gamble that we could be relegated. Which is exactly what he did last season and the first time Staveley bid for the club.

But I do agree that there will be no takeover if we go down because Ashley will again chose to gamble on us getting straight back up rather than reducing his valuation of the club.

Still think if he knew he was getting a guaranteed 350m he would be doing more, in my personal opinion anyway as last season we were pretty safe after the Sheff Utd game at home and that no agreement was in place at any time during Steveley's original bid. I do agree on your second point though concerning relegation.

Think his action was the new coach and to be fair it looked like it might have been enough. Problem is the lack of, or shit, investment is coming back to bite us - no decent cover for Wilson is what will do us. If he, Almiron and ASM were all fit, I'd be more optimistic of us staying up in spite of Bruce.

Wrote out a big reply then deleted. There is no point. If she was willing to run the club herself she would have or be in process of buying it with perhaps selling shares to backers later. She can’t or isn’t willing to. It’s that simple.

Time will tell I guess

Maybe, but, I remember Rob Lee being amazed at Jones being brought in as he’s obviously not a fan and his son did play under him.

Unfortunately not mate. However, having met a lot of people over 35 years of following this club all over the place, like a lot of people I hear stuff 2nd and 3rd hand. I base my ramblings on here on a mixture of what I hear and read.

I’m convinced this is going through in some form relegation or not, if it doesn’t I certainly won’t be deleting my account and will happily take whatever abuse comes.

You seem to have inside knowledge, so care to share your source?

Unfortunately not mate. However, having met a lot of people over 35 years of following this club all over the place, like a lot of people I hear stuff 2nd and 3rd hand. I base my ramblings on here on a mixture of what I hear and read.

I’m convinced this is going through in some form relegation or not, if it doesn’t I certainly won’t be deleting my account and will happily take whatever abuse comes.

You are completely correct, have no fear - but it is HARD WORK on here sometimes !!

£305 million is the price

Arbitration is the key to the takeover with a deal done before the most likely outcome (De Marco)

Takeover will not be done before the summer

£200 million for transfers

Newcastle would become part of the 2030 project with massive infrastructure investment (not confirmed but the Saudis need a flagship soccer project)

Saudis don't want to buy Spurs as reported
