With Mousa Dembele and Dele Alli suspended, there is suddenly an awful lot of space in the middle of Tottenham’s midfield. Step forward one or both of Tom Carroll and Ryan Mason to fill their boots. Good luck, fellas.

 

Actually, Tottenham’s final two games could be crucial for Mason and Carroll. Friend of the site Adam Bate wrote an excellent piece for Sky Sports in which he pointed out that Spurs had won only two of the ten league games in which either player had started this season. The obvious implication is that with greater strength in depth Mauricio Pochettino’s side could have won the league. The flipside is that a couple of injuries to key players could easily have seen Spurs fall out of the top four.

Second, we want to have the same approach for all the teams who are still fighting to avoid relegation. They deserve the same approach in our seriousness, with no guarantee that we can win, but we will go for the win of course.

 

Given the situation it wouldn’t be fair of us to have a serious approach for the Spurs game and not have a serious approach for the other games.

 

I am not going to change a lot in the team. Before, I made some changes with Academy players, but it would not be fair to do it again to the other teams we are approaching in the last games.

 

You have the obligation as a player to act well. They did that in the previous games against Bournemouth and Tottenham and we are going in to the last three games with the same attitude.

It's never the managers who switch off when there's nothing to play for, it's the players. No one can predict whether they'll be up for it or not, but if you want to look for a positive, without the pressure they might relax and play better football.

Their games are irrelevant, 2nd and 3rd both get automatic it's only 4th that needs to qualify.

 

They only want to finish above Arsenal, which they'll do without even needing any more points this season imo.

Anything other than a win and defeats for the other two would be a let-down really.

 

If the results do turn out like that, there's not a damn thing Norwich and Sunderland can do if we beat Tottenham on the last day.

 

And the pressure will be on both for their next games, we may not even need anything from Tottenham to stay up, if we're really lucky.

I have full faith in Rafa, he'll have the team well drilled for tomorrow, no complacency and if it's not going to plan he'll know what to do to rectify that. The only thing we can't control is the other games, that we'll have to wait for. We should, can and will beat Villa because of Benitez's influence.

We beat Villa and Sunderland need at least a point out of their weekend and mid week games, Norwich need at least two points.

Can't see the makems getting anything more than their usual draw tomorrow,  in fact I reckon they'll draw their last three games,  fat sham won't change his safety first tactics this late in the game.
