I disagree - if we really want to be a top club we have to behave like one and be a bit ruthless.  Time for Eddie to go.

Surely top clubs priorities having the best man for the job over ruthlessness?

Follow the Chelsea and Spurs blueprint.

Chelsea did ok with that model when they were hiring competent managers

And spending way more than we're able to now while also making illegal payments to agents and that. They were playing a different game all together

They seem to be cutting back on some of their signature sporting or cultural investments - recently pulling support for LIV Golf, the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters and a deal with the Metropolitan Opera as well as selling their stake in Al Hilal and downscaling plans for Neom and some desert ski resort - while refocusing on inward investment, tourism and the technology sector. Several of their recent investments seem to have entrenched their connections to the Trump administration like their proposed takeover of Electronic Arts or their backing for the Paramount takeover of Warner Bros. There are rumoured cashflow problems and the Iran war and the UAE's decision to leave OPEC will not help. It's difficult to know where we stand amid all of that.

How about leaving skiing to countries more suited than trying to shoehorn it into a country that’s never known it, the daft cunts.

Al Hilal and the other clubs were always going to sold though, this was said from the outset that it was a temporary measure. The Al Hilal deal has been going on for about a year now.

They did buy EA, and they also own the company that made Pokémon Go. The Paramount and WB merger is going ahead.

I wonder if they'll ditch Newcastle too? Could be back to the dark ages once again after all the promises. Or maybe they are ditching everything else to concentrate on us?

It'll all come out in the wash.

I wonder what will happen to the big name golfers? Will they welcomed back to the main tour with open arms or told to fuck off to the Korn Ferry tour and work their way back? I reckon the big, big names will be welcomed back to the main tour as it raises the profile of the main tour, but a lot of golfers (ie Rory) will be very outspoken about their return. Apologies to those who don't like golf  😊

I don't think they'll "concentrate on us" as such but don't see them ditching us either, at least in the short term. A PL club is a decent asset and one they'll most likely turn a profit on one day, especially if direct to consumer streaming takes off for the PL.

The golf has just been a money sink, as soon as the PGA Tour brought in the Signature Events and put the prize money up that was game over for LIV really, their play was either a merger or takeover and I believe whatever talks they were having about some sort of co-operation fell by the wayside a while back. I think they were still wanting to do something with the DP World Tour but that obviously has nowhere near the clout of the PGA. The returnees will either take the Reed or Koepka route depending on how it all shakes out - I think Rahm still has fines outstanding to pay to the European Tour but as you say, there's no chance he and Bryson don't get welcomed back with open arms, it'll just be 5-10 years of not getting their fingers in the bonus pot, but they'll probably win a couple of FedEx Cups a piece in that time to compensate anyway.

Also apologies to non-golf watchers!

We have a lot more potential than a lot of their other investment.

We can be pretty heavily Saudi-branded and if we get global success we'll do a lot for their profile.

Newcastle alone provides more global exposure for them than the entire Saudi league combined.

Golfing casual here, what does that mean? What are their bonus payments based upon?

I've just read it actually includes forfeiting any FedEx Cup bonuses in Koepka's case and apparently just for this year, so I'm talking absolute bollocks on that one anyway  but they also get equity in the PGA Tour organisation itself I believe, which he's also not allowed for a certain period of time.

If the bonuses are only withheld for a short time it arguably won't make too much difference anyway, given it might take a while for the returnees to get fully up to speed with the level etc, offset for the good players by the hefty sign-on fees they got anyway I guess.

Theyve spent £4bn on the golf and have nothing to show for it. They've spent £1bn on us and have a club worth £1bn. We're quite a sensible investment.
