You could stay up with Gayle as long as he plays enough games. He's OK at scoring goals.

He is a poor option compared to the real PL standard, but we all know those standards don't apply to us.

He’s 31 a month after the season starts and never scored more than 7.

Which barring Carrolls purple patch before moving to Liverpool and is still better than the rest of our current strike force combined.

Totally prepared to be corrected but wasn't it something like Muto 2, Joelinton 2, and Almiron 3?

And that's only if you see Almiron as a striker, but i always thought he was more of an attacking midfielder.

Wow that's properly grim

That aside, he did ok in the post lockdown matches, got a few goals which mattered, but still shouldn't be first choice for any respectable PL side

Gayle is a dismal option at this level. He takes about four or five chances to actually score and doesn't have any remarkable attributes to the rest of his game. He's a likeable guy and his contribution in his first tweet seasons was absolutely vital (particularly in the Championship obviously), but to say he's 'never let us down' is very kind imo. The fact he's still arguably out best striker is one massive reason why we're going to be middling between 12th-17th again next season.

Exactly.

He should be 3rd choice. Carroll shouldn’t be anywhere near the squad and Joelinton needs shipped out. The fact we’re going into a season with those 3 again is scary. Literally the only hope is if something clicks for Joelinton out of nowhere.

It's not a problem, the defence will keep bagging loads of goals this season so we're grand.

If Ritchie was considered important enough for a new deal surely Gayle will get one.

Ritchie isn't a crock who misses big chunks of the season. He's actually a good signing if your only aim is to avoid relegation. Gayle might be worth keeping around to the end of his contract considering the state of our current striking options.

Don't think Bruce understands that his 'war chest' (however much it is) has to cover wages for the duration of theif contracts, as well as all associated fees.

He must think if he signs loads if loans/frees, then he still has his full chest to do some 'proper transfers'.

Am I the only one who thinks Bruce would be delighted to sell those fancy continental centre halves for whatever he can, in order to flesh out his frugal dealings and cement Bruceball as our style?

In his mind, Burnley’s squad is the pinnacle.
