RodneyCisse
You’d imagine with Broja, Chelsea will be looking for some cash. We might miss out with Everton throwing money around.
Stifler
We won’t be interested in Ronaldo, and he won’t be interested in us. He’s too old, you are getting a year or two out of him. He’s on £500k a week, even if he takes a wage cut to join us (he won’t) he would still be on 2-3 times more than anyone else here. If we bring him in, then his wages alone would mount up to what we would pay for anyone else. On top of this he’s wanting Champions League football. Guest HTT II
It’s been their policy to loan out players for the loan fee and partial wage payments, but I can see that policy changing now under new owners.

SUPERTOON
Strange one with Broja, you would suspect he won’t actually be first choice at any of the clubs in for him.
AyeDubbleYoo
He’s a different prospect to Ekitike as well, since he’s a CF and (I assume) won’t play in the wide forward positions. Means he’d literally be an alternative to Wilson and not so versatile. Edited July 6, 2022 by AyeDubbleYoo

Chris_R
€30m? Get out of here. With the wages he wants, I wouldn't even take him on a free. Still a decent player but he'd just be an absolute drain on us financially.
thomas
I'm not even really sure where we got the reputation of willing to pay ridiculous sums for past-it players came from: even before PIF there was a "haha, maybe nufc will buy them" thrown out whenever some 33+y/o was looking for a last payday, as if we were the luxury version of Allardyce's Bolton. Now the links will be cranked to 11. i'm not even mad, just disappointed at how lazy it is.

It's crazy how lazy it is considering we didn't do that at all for 15 years.
GeordieDazzler
He’s wanting to leave for CL football so that rules is out. Also would be monumentally stupid idea for us in almost every single way.

I was thinking about that but Butt and Geremi were the only two that came immediately to mind and neither were particularly expensive. Campbell came in under Hughton for next to nothing. I don't think it ever really fit but I wasn't following until 2002 so maybe there were some 90's shenanigans.

You could probably make pretty solid cases for Viduka, Duff, Owen, Kluivert (although he was still good), Ronny Johnsen, Babayaro, Smith being name signings who were all past their best. Nine
Hopefully we see more of the outgoings start to happen now, Gayle, Clark and Hendrick will all have championship takers but we’ll still be paying half of their wage. I know they want loans with obligations but I can’t see that happening for more then a few of our players.
