Don’t forget how in Leipzig he used to play as a second strikers who drifts wide, and therefore he used his speed to exploit spaces and become a source of threat. In Chelsea, he played as a left winger in 4-3-3, and a forward who drifts wide is significantly different than a winger. Their responsibilities and roles are different. As a winger, you should help maintain possession and deliver crosses, so it is more of a supporting role, and that is different from his role back in Leipzig as a second striker, and he was pretty good back then.

It all boils down to how Eddie would want to use him in case if we are really interested.

so we should change to a 442 if we signed Werner then? Did Howe try this before? Like playing Wood and Wilson together

Why are so many people so keen on Werner given how badly he's failed in England so far? He's been here 2 seasons now.

Not a loaded question, genuinely interested in the answer.

I think he's like Sterling in that his runs etc create a lot of space for his team mates. His alround contribution is underrated.

Wouldn't be surprised if there's a big push this week but conscious that we still need to shift Darlow, Manquillo, Fernandez, Shortstaff and Murphy. Still shitloads to do.

There is and it’s good to know we have competent people dealing with it all.

Do you include Murphy because he's a saleable asset? I think he'll get plenty of game time this season.

Aye Murphy isn’t going anywhere

We have 28 senior players and only 25 places for our PL squad, Shortstaff, Fernandez and Lewis are the obvious three to miss out at the moment but if we bring in any more players someone will have to make way.

Ritchie is far more likely to go than Murphy is. Also one of the keepers will go we won’t have 4 keepers in the squad. Not sure Manquillo will be here either

I hope he goes, like. Fail to see how there's room for all of our existing wingers plus another one.

I hope he does too. He offers very little at this level. Can’t see it there. Hasn’t been one mention of him leaving so far

Think if we brought in a winger Murphy would be liable to left out of the squad tbh. Yes he's currently in line to get game time - but there's a huge difference between 4th and 5th choice wide player.

If we were still keen on Cornet, Murphy would be a good option for Burnley especially with McNeil also gone.

Boro mate of mine reckons they are in for him with Tavenier going to Bournemouth

Murphy is great to bring on when we are winning, he gas good organisation skills and covers back well and has pace for the counter attack.

His pace on the break means he can misplace the final pass or shoot straight at the keeper even faster
