Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

We’ve handled this well. Seems like it’s best left to Liverpool now - and we’ve neatly sidestepped more Isak interest very quickly.

Hopefully we move quickly onto our next targets, we have a lot to do in a short time.

We hold onto Isak, Liverpool sign someone they don't want 100%, for near £90 million, and don't come for Isak next season. Seems alright to me.

We also aren't signing this French cocktease drip either.

Flushing Liverpool out to bid for Ekitike whilst we keep Isak is good from us.

We now need to start moving on incomings. Its getting to that stage now where we have to start making signings.

But.. but I thought Liverpool had outplayed us? Now they’re buying a striker who isn’t even their first choice.

They’ll walk away now as not serious for Ekitike, Wissa is a feint to put pressure on. Frankfurt will come back to the table as realise we were the club acting in good faith.

They can sit on him another year, daft cunts.

I think the forum in general leans more towards a more negative outlook, and so it can get a bit much once a good number of people are continuously posting about their concerns in much the same manner.

Think it's that more than the concern itself.

Is what it is though I guess.

I generally try not to post near identical thoughts to others, particularly if they're 'negative' thoughts. That would be pointless and unconstructive.

Just seems that most of the time I say "I'm not sure this is a good/healthy thing the club is doing", it's met with disproportionate levels of "what do you mean, explain yourself!". Seems odd when basically the most offensive thing I say is "we're not being particularly efficient in the transfer market". At worst, that's up for debate. At best, it's simply true. It's not some blasphemy.

Anyway... re Ekitike, I do hope we move on and have other targets ready to action, and in the coming days. If we take weeks and weeks to get deals done (which there is evidence of us doing) we're going to really struggle to bring in the numbers needed to have adequate depth this season.

There is still time, but at the rate we've gone the first half of this window, it won't happen. Time to get backsides into gear.

I'm thinking Liverpool need to sell first.

They apparently spoke to us about Isak but made no offer and they said they'd pay more than us for Ekitike, but again made no offer.

They need to shift Nunez and seeing if Diaz fooks off.

People seem to be shitting themselves at the thought of us having Isak and Ekitike in the same team.

The bold bit makes no sense. How can they pay more for someone with a release clause? Or do they mean wages?

Fine, we'll offer him £20m/week. They have to offer at least £20,000,000.01 now which is clearly insane money and it'll ruin them. Good.

Saying "we will offer more" is nonsense. You cannot always stick to that as you have no idea what the other side will offer.

As for shifting Nunez, good luck. He's shit. I'm sick of seeing players fail upwards though, it's about time someone was forced to take a big loss. Hopefully this is the time. Normally someone (normally Saudi, frustratingly) comes in and offers more than was paid for someone underperforming which bails out their current club. It would be nice if this time the footballing world agreed that Nunez is, at best, a £15-20m striker. And that's being generous.

Surprisingly gutted about this one I thought we’d stick out - assumed we must have had enough encouragement behind the scenes to go for it. Going for Wissa now seems awful.

Surely if Liverpool sign Ekitike they’re putting themselves out of contention to bid for Isak next season? They’d be better off letting us sign Ekitike in the hope we’re more open to Isak offers next season?

Well seems like we have moved on, so that's a good sign

That’s the beauty, they’ve jumped and got their second choice.

They are a cartel club so they loathe competition.

I just cannot trust anything Fab says anymore unless it's a 'HERE WE GO' tweet (which are mostly accurate). We might have left talks, we might be taking a bid as we speak. Fuck knows.

This is how I approach every rumour TBH. Nobody seems to know anything until a deal is pretty much done.
