Schecter
Fucking ridiculous this like. Man U are a fucking joke. No wonder they're a mess financially.
black_n_white
If we stay up the top 6 will see us as a threat going forward so why help us now?
The Prophet
To be fair, it sounds like Man United are being the unreasonable party in this instance.

Fantail Breeze
Just now, The Prophet said: To be fair, it sounds like Man United are being the unreasonable party in this instance. A bit thick from them too. We don’t play them again this season but play all of their top four rivals. A stronger NUFC would actually be of benefit to them* *this season

nbthree3
Ornstein: https://theathletic.com/news/jesse-lingards-proposed-move-to-newcastle-on-the-verge-of-collapse/6MKlqD5xQQzv/ Jesse Lingard’s proposed move to Newcastle United is on the verge of collapsing, The Athletic understands. Newcastle were working on a deal to take the 29-year-old midfielder on loan until the end of the season and, despite initially planning to stay and fight for a place at United, Lingard is believed to have warmed to the idea of switching to St James’ Park. Direct talks were held with United’s interim manager Ralf Rangnick on Tuesday, in which Lingard asked for approval to leave, and the German is believed to have given his blessing. But the two clubs were unable to agree financial terms and the new Saudi Arabia-led ownership on Tyneside will now reluctantly switch their attention to alternative targets before the transfer window closes next Monday. TRon
I think once they got Martial out the door, they probably thought they can afford to keep Lingard now, whether he wants to be there or not. It's not like he'll down tools in a World Cup year.
Scoot
So Man Utd are going to keep him, not play him, pay his pages and not receive any transfer fee for him as hes out of contract in the summer. What a fantastic decision Man Utd.

Just like Sevilla and Lille TBF. Hence why i struggle how some are blaming NUFC this window. Clubs really aren’t wanting to sell to us this window if they can avoid it. SUPERTOON
I’ve always thought if this deal is to be done it would be on deadline day. Literally makes no sense for Man Utd to keep him

WarrenBartonCentrePartin
If Man Utd are being dicks, then there’s little else we can do. It’s telling that they’ve rejected offers from elsewhere too. Not sure this one can be blamed on us.
Theregulars
Seems like a negotiating move I would make if I knew a cash rich club was after a fringe player who was interested in leaving.

I can see this being the case for PL teams but not abroad - I think in the case of Botman and Carlos their respective teams are in the hunt for trophies and don’t want to lose key players absent crazy money. KaKa
I mean ... I'm not at all surprised Man United aren't trying to do us or Lingard any favours here. We are likely going to be a pain in the ass for them going forward should we stay up. And from the players point of view he has turned down an offer form them and is going to cost them a bigger transfer fee by insisting on a loan instead. They hardly need a £6 million loan fee, and so this is not a big surprise at all. If we were signing him outright for around £12 million that would perhaps be a different story.
