Then they get to smile and clap as the delegate pours olive oil words into their ears about how powerful and glorious they are. The delegate is then deemed worthy of joining them for dinner, as they regale themselves in stories about how wonderful the emperor is. To me it just shows that they’re a bunch of hostile cunts, whose thin skin and paranoia means that grovelling is the only way you might escape without getting a kicking. Which is most probably just like the fucking dives they drown their sorrows in on a weekend - tetchy, bitter, angry yokels looking to chin any poor cunt who they don’t recognise who wanders in accidentally. And PIF were only looking to flip a buck, but then they were the greatest owners in world football when the deal was off, now they’re back to being cheap shite owners again.
