I'm so all-in that I've started maintaining a few simple charts comparing 21/22 (blue) with 22/23 (red).

Obviously very early days, but we're already +3 vs. same opposition with Forest (h) subbed in for Norwich (h) from last season. We got absolutely nowt from Wolves & Liverpool away last season, so the next two games are another good opportunity to extend this gap.

Unsurprisingly, every metric I'm tracking by gameweek is currently better than it was at this stage last season, and we're 11 places higher in the league than we were after GW3 in 21/22.

I'll keep adding bits as the season goes. It's just struck me that it would be good to look at goal difference / xG difference on a specific game basis, rather than just doing it by gameweek as I have currently, so that the strength of opposition is taken into account. I think those numbers would be an even better gauge of our progress.

Saw the ‘famous black people carrier’ coming out of the training ground at 12.30 today.

Loads of kids there, and the two security guards were, unusually, out on the main road side.

Makes a change. This time last year it'll have been a Relish Catering van

Woat IMO. If not, just please keep this up and inject it into our veins.

That might be the most random and obscure selector of a dream team I've seen.

Had his name on my shirt back in the day, well Nico 18 (wasn't it?) anyway

You should look up his managerial career. Never spends more than one season anywhere and has somehow gotten hired by the same club three times in like four years

I was hoping someone would do one of these. Was it you who used to do them when Rafa was here?

Glad I found this post and I hope you keep them coming

Alright, I've updated it to focus much more on performance versus the same (or equivalent, in the case of the relegated teams) opposition:

• 4 points better off (+2 vs. Forest, +1 vs. Man City & Wolves, same vs. Brighton)
• Scored twice as many goals (6 vs. 3)
• Conceded half the goals (4 vs. 8)
• Goal difference has gone from -5 to +2.
• xG For has more than doubled (6.60 from 2.93)

• xG Against is pretty much the same (7.14 vs. 7.44)
• xG Difference is more than 8x better (-0.54 vs. -4.51)

Just proving what our eyes have been showing us, but with 10% of the season gone we're a far better team than we were last season. Worth keeping in mind, though, that of the games so far only two are Howe vs. Howe comparisons (the other two were Bruce & Jones). And both of the Howe comparisons came before the January window.

Went passed the training ground at 10.30 and again at 11.45. Both times there were 6 security visible at the gate (normally just two). Also, there were no fans there at all (normally 12-20).

So either the security have eaten the fans, or the fans are in disguise. Very disturbing either way.

The clouds are gathering.

Perhaps someone of note is at the training ground? Maybe Al-Rumayyan.
