Danh1
Been quality since he came in, would love to see him get the England number one spot for the World Cup but can’t see it. TBF Pickford is reliable for England

He was faultless in the euros bar a mad ten minute spell against Denmark where he kicked the ball straight to their players a couple of times. Would’ve probably been a national hero for his penalty save if England had won the shootout.

jack j
I'd rather none of our players played in the World Cup tbh like
Yorkie
Bloody love Pope, like. Well proud that he was in nets tonight. That Man City performance was fucking class.
huss9
needs to work on his kicking.
Ronaldo
He’s 30. It’s his weakness. He’s a very good goalkeeper otherwise.
Disco
Even then it’s overplayed IMO when you think back to the Given scoop. England’s back 3 awful at making angles for him, each other or the wing backs when needed.

But I thought he was massively at fault for that free kick from miles out. Denmark, was it? Lovely strike. But it wasn’t even in the corner and his short arms/timing were shown up again. I’d be fuming if we let one in from there. Which we regularly used to do with Elliot. He was the king of getting beaten by one well within reach. He will be starting for England when fit. But I’m not sure it makes much difference. The team have looked awful since the Euros.

Neil
Can't remember the last clear mistake Pickford made, tbh. He's been solid for us for a long time, people go on about the "hasn't let England down" thing as though he regularly has made errors for us. Has previously but not for a long while. Terrible timing obviously for Pope as he's usually so solid but he's had a shocker tonight. Edited September 26, 2022 by Neil
Awaymag
Pope looked awful in that game mind........anyway onto the weekend

To be honest, from the two games in this International break, he's not looked like he has for us at all, he's looked very nervous and uncomposed with the ball at feet, his positioning and commandment of the box, which has been by far his biggest strength this season, is way off. Its really odd to be honest, hopefully his form doesnt drop for us at the weekend.

His confidence will be in his boots after that whole performance not just the massive rick at the end. Reputations stick and I think we've been exposed to Pickford's clangers more than any other opposition fanbase. Agree with you though, the whole "Why does Pickford start?" question is irritating and it's irritating when it's asked about Maguire as well tbh. Mattoon
Poor game for Pope tonight, his distribution was suspect and was nearly at fault with a heavy touch early on. Hopefully he has that out his system now and back to being his glorious best for us at the weekend.
nemtizz
He'll have decent CBs infront of him so won't be an issue.

Just shows the difference between international football and the PL tbh, less high balls to deal with, which Pope handles brilliantly, and other skills like shot stopping and reading of the game are more important. Not saying Pope is bad at any of those btw, but Pickford has generally risen to the challenge for England.

Klaus
Funny that Pickford is the opposite of pope. Makes loads of errors for Everton, but is good for England.
OverThere
Well he cant be injured sitting on the bench so all in all a great result tonight IMO
