Not much sugar-coating this, like. I'll be gutted if he leaves, heartbroken if it's to Liverpool. 

 

Serious 'fun while it lasted' vibes with this. He's our golden ticket to scaling the barriers between us and Liverpool, Arsenal etc. We're not a one-man team but I struggle to see us sustaining a regular CL push without him.

I thought Liverpool had already turned down 60+ for Diaz. Could've been speculation though.

With what Howe said, he stated that "at this moment in time, I expect him to come" when he got asked if Isak would travel to Asia so as at that specific time of speaking to the media, his expectation would have still been Isak flying out. Howe didn't 100% guarantee that Isak would travel on Saturday (despite his first answer being more confident) so he's not dug himself a hole so to speak.

 

As it transpired though in those subsequent days following Saturday (albeit documented by Kennedy and Cronin), Isak apparently did have some discomfort in his thigh hence a scan and subsequent training away from the group. Will admit that the timing of it all is eyebrow raising but I'm choosing to believe that it's all innocent regarding being left out due to injury. It will be the first question he'll be asked about in his first press conference after landing anyway so we'll "know" more in the next few days.

We haven't done much to help the situation with how bad we have been in the market either have we. Not just him, but i would imagine a few other of out top players are looking at it and having doubts about our long term ambition.

Yeah my point was that was how PSR was intended to work. Lock in those already at the top, and stop any new owners spending the money it will take to close the gap.

They don't have to sell them quickly enough. They can just sell them in January/next summer.

If he does up going, I don't think it'd be the end of the world. He's been fantastic for us but we always knew one of our big players would have to leave for us to push on. At least we'd hopefully get a minimum of £150m you'd imagine.

 

Obviously I'm still praying he'll stay and sign an upgraded deal but I'm trying to be realistic like most of us here.

 

We need some proper clarity from the higher ups asap.

It's never the end of the world when a player leaves, I guess. It's just painful for a couple of weeks. Or a few years if we have to watch him play for Liverpool.

along with this and the probable sales of Nunez, elliot, diaz etc; it's worth noting that they will have, to the best of my knowledge, recieved a market value insurance payout for Diogo Jota. Obviously not planned or something they wanted (RIP), but the cash injection Vs a discounted sale of an injury prone player will be huge for their accounts and PSR.

People can believe he's "injured" but that's just copium 

 

Him leaving doesn't fill me with dread, obviously replacing him is almost impossible but it's the thought of him joining Liverpool that's sickening 

 

I'd prefer us to accept less money for him to go abroad

 

But if I had to call it I'd say come 1st September he's going to be a Liverpool player

Same. To me, it’s more of a case that we could be ready to push for the title and big honours if we were allowed to spend a bit of money to get a head start and meet the ambitions of a player like Isak. With our ownership backing, we should never been in a position like this having to lose our best player unless we want to do that
