There’s also a requirement to have 8 “English” players, although that one obviously wouldn’t be an issue for us. Unless it’s changed in recent years you could just leave empty spaces in your 25 player list.

Aye. If you have 3 you can only register 23 players. 2, then it's 21 or 22 that you can register... sliding down.

Ah right, so it’s only a requirement if you want a full squad.

He’ll be lacking match fitness though, it often takes players a few games to get back to normal after a lengthy layoff.

Superior Acuña
Moyes used to have these seasons at Everton I'm sure, where they'd go from pushing for the CL one season to hovering not far above the relegation the next, then back up again. I've never really liked Moyes' way of playing the game, he does favour direct Pardewish football, albeit he's much better at it. Loving seeing them struggle this season, especially as they would have been seen as competitors for Europe at the start of the season.

Coffee_Johnny
Chart shows how, based on strength of opposition, plus home and away variation, I reckoned (in June) a top ten kind of season progresses. No great surprise that we’re 7 points ahead of where we would have needed to be! This means 30% ahead, keep going at anything like this rate and it will be a 70+ points season. Looking at the last few seasons, the magic number of points for a top four finish fluctuates quite a bit year to year. 4th places finisher the last ten years has been 71 67 66 71 75 76 66 70 79 73 Anything in the 70s and we're gonna have a real shot. 40 points from the next 23 games would get us to 70. That's a bit of a drop off from our 2 points per game pace that we're on, still not easy but doable!

The average/mean points per game for 4th place, over the last 28 seasons of Premier League, is 1.80. Median 1.79, mode (most usual) 1.76. Highest 2.08 (2013-14) lowest 1.58 (2003-4).
