Liverpool and Chelsea IMO should be taking top 5. Then Man Utd should really end up 6th because of one game a week. In which case our aim has to be 7th and it being Europe (which it should giving League Cup winners will be either us or Europe already, and co-efficient will see us get another spot).

Which means looking at the table, your Sunderland and Palaces are what we need to finish above. It’s not even some small time thing when I say our aim now is to finish above Sunderland, because for aforementioned reason, they are likely so far the side other teams need to finish ahead to get 7th.

As bad as we have been, that has to be the aim and despite the poor away form, giving the money we’ve spent, can spend in January, we should be finishing 7th behind all the usual big sides. That’s what Spurs will be aiming for too in second half of season.

games we should have taken points from this season all against the sky 6 less City

Liverpool +1  at least (we battered them despite over half the game with 10 men)

Arsenal +1 (they were the better team but we were robbed a stonewall pen at 1-1)

Spurs +2 (we dominated the whole match and they managed to score with their only two efforts on target, the second quite flukey)

Chelsea +2 (battered them first half and robbed by the ref on numerous occasions)

Man U +1 at least (we were clearly superior to them and dominated mist of game but probably didn't deserve more than a draw given failure to work their keeper)

we should be looking for 12 points from our next 4 league games which would hopefully see us surge up the table

what's so frustrating is it feels like Liverpool, Chelsea and MU have all been shite this season and still occupy the top 6

fair play to Villa for challenging the established order

6th points off 5th

5 off 17th.

I get your point, there's so many teams on similar points, but there's nothing which can suggest currently we are capable of stringing 2 wins together let alone getting back to 5th!

In all honesty, the next 4 league games should be 12 points. Theres no excuses for it not to be. It’s two home games against sides we should be winning and 2 away games against the worst sides in the league.

Think we will have to roll out a heavily rotated side against Bournemouth due to Man City being the following game in league cup.

January in general is a brutal month that proper makes our breaks us. 4 competitions and 9 games. Any new signing will have little time to come in and train. Probably want them in before FA Cup game so they can at least start that game and get going.

You should not have beaten us.

You were quite poor mate. I mean fair play nice goal by Dorgu, but 2nd half was one way traffic. Never seen ManU so deep against Newcastle. It was 6-3-1 formation in the last half an hour.

It was one way traffic because we scored and sat back. That was with us missing half our first team as well so of course we would be on the back foot.

Not saying we were great by any stretch, but the better chances still fell to us IMO and I can't understand how people would think you deserved to actually win the game.

No team chooses to have that little possession and be under that much pressure.

We didn't deserve to win it but neither did you.

This is why you're all so disappointed all of the time. You were allowed to have the ball and you couldn't do anything with it. All that "pressure" but still less xG than us paints a picture.

Most of our best players were missing and we still scored and shut you out so we absolutely deserved to win. Our 11 that finished the game had an average age of about 14 ffs.
