Optimistic Nut
If we can draw v City, beat Everton and Spurs then that's a big move in the right direction. A draw v City just gives a bit of a boost, win at Everton gets the away monkey off our back, then beat a rival for a top 5 spot and it'd look brighter. I expect a significant upturn in results when then happens.
Solitude20
Over the last 10 years, here’s how many seasons the “big six” have missed out on the Champions League: Arsenal: 6 Man United: 6 Spurs: 5 Chelsea: 4 Liverpool: 2 Man City: 0 The point I’m making is: it’s actually fine if we don’t get in next season. Missing out doesn’t automatically mean we’re stalling or not progressing. The Premier League is brutal, and even the “big 6” drop out regularly. If anything, I wouldn’t mind a proper run at the Europa League. With the new format, it’s become much more winnable, and lifting a European trophy wouldn’t exactly be a bad step in our journey. Unlucky Luque
Would love playing the Europa League. CL is class, but still feels way too soon.
Jaqen
Champions League is obviously way better in terms of finances, big occasions for the fans and what the top players want to be playing in. But the lesser European competitions would probably suit our squad a lot more. Much easier and better for rotation and giving regular minutes and developing players like Miley, Osula etc.

Optimistic Nut
Not worried about the likes of Brighton, Bournemouth & Palace yet. If they're up there after 30 games like Forest were last season then aye. The big thing is we're keeping in touching distance of the likes of Villa, Man U & Spurs. You'd think the way the English clubs are doing in Europe that top 5 gets it again.
Casey
Mental how compacted the table is currently. 6 points between 4th to 15th and no telling which way it goes currently. Next games come thick and fast with our league games of Everton (away) and Tottenham (home). Both absolutely winnable and the Tottenham game is basically a 6-pointer in our bid for European football. We can do it.

Optimistic Nut
I hope that draw at Villa doesn't prove costly. They were fucking awful and we had them on toast. 6 points gap rather than 3 points.

ramirez
Real chance to go on a decent run now should win next two homes hopefully, then a tricky away and Chelsea home which are winnable. Before Man U and Burnley away. Crucial.

gbandit
Didn’t someone - maybe Lucky - predict us to pick up four points from our games up to Christmas? And they predicted this before the Man City game?

Danh1
Win the next two, and I’ll be disappointed if we don’t, and we should be in the top 7. Wissa back in to give us another option, full backs both fit and looking class, things now looking much better.

Coffee_Johnny
Here's an end of November update on how we are doing against the trajectory towards the average points total for sixth place (taking into account quality of opposition we play in the different months and whether home or away). In short, despite current placement in the league we are only two points away from where we would expect to be; if we were aiming to finish sixth. We'd need to pick up 12-13 points in December (6 games), or 21 points in December and January combined (11 games) to get back on track. Marseille was just down to a moment of madness and an unraveling ball of string. Confident we play like this 2/3 games were good for top 6.
