We need to stop saying this ffs :D Said it in pre game thread, for us to get UCL, we have to get from remaining 11 home games 10 wins and one draw at worse, because I’m sure people don’t realise who we have to play away still :D

If we don’t now have a clear run on home wins, we won’t get to 60 points.

I find that a funny way of looking at things, the idea we have to get 10 wins out of 11 remaining home, we dont ! We have to get 6 more points than the 6 teams above us for probable champions league and 4points for Europa.

And to get that will require 10 wins from 10 at home, unless we go on a mad one away.

Are Liverpool and Chelsea going to finish on less than 65 points will need to be discussion if we are to qualify for Europe.

Winning at Man Utd will be the start of shifting my view we can change away form and get the points we need away.

Or 9 home wins and an extra away or 8 and another extra away but even thats without anything that happens elsewhere.

The only thing we "have" to do is gain more points than those teams ahead of us, there will be ups and downs for everyone yet.

I don’t expect European football next season.
i think we’ll finish 7-9 probably 8th or 9th.

We don’t have the alchemy of a team to finish top 6.  Arsenal City Chelsea too strong of a squad. Expect Liverpool and Villa to be there or thereabouts.  I can’t see us finishing above all of the rest of the field.

If we crash out CL in the group stage or strengthen in January that may change.

But we fucked it in the summer.

This is my view as well. Best chance we have of a top 7 finish is to exit the three cup competitions as early as possible. For whatever reasons Howe struggles with juggling CL and cup runs, with collecting PL points.

Our away fixtures in the new year are horrendous. We are averaging 1.35 points per game at GW 17, on course for 51 by the end of the season.

We’ve faced all of the top 6 at home (bar one maybe). We have to go to all of them away.

We  are lots of points down on last season already with tougher games to make it up and another 4 CL games probably.

I’ll give you £100 and I’ll take £10 that we don’t finish top 5. *

Was responding to someone else, as I've said if I had to predict right now I'd say we won't qualify for CL and I am OK with that. I've obviously no issue with people making predictions, but every season we see daft comments like "don't win at Man Utd and the season is over" despite it being proven wrong over and over again.

Aye an uptick in form of around 60 points is likely 7th/8th.

Big reason is we don’t have the squad depth.

Based on revenue and wages, we have absolutely no god given right to qualify for the champions league, let alone every season.

The sooner people realise this the better.

Out of whack expectations are the biggest problem on here and everywhere.

I don't think we'll get Europe unless we do some smart business in January or completely change the root of our attack.

This whole ideology that "we're only 6 points away" is fine, we're also 1 point ahead of 15th place. It's just not been good enough and I'm sure Howe knows that.

I’m just going to assume we’re finishing 10th this year and stop worrying about league position. Let’s enjoy the CL while we have it, but we’re just not at the stage yet where we can qualify for it and play in it at the same time.

Given the amount spent on the squad that’s a shit excuse.

CL for me is done for this season, we have too many issues to solve to put the kind of run together that is needed

Wouldn't rule out any form of Europe completely just yet, the next 4 league fixtures on paper are kind but for me we'll need to pick up a minimum of 10 points
