NUFC Transfer Rumours

Who am I to judge but why go for an injury prone player for 40 million when it's reported El Khannouss has a low buyout clause?

You'd think he'd be more than happy to move to us.

I know I’ve been canny grumpy this summer, but some people are just pure dementors and have been for years. We’re finally getting our ducks in a row and it’s still not good enough.

Our business does seem strange mind. Went for a striker/no 10 in Joao Pedro and were then interested in El Khannouss in that attacking midfield role which we seem to have abandoned for a similar player to Willock. Unless of course it being a CL season we push the boat out and get El Khannouss too.

So it looks like it could be

Dubravka ➡️ Ramsdale

Kelly ➡️ Thiaw

Longstaff ➡️ Ramsey

Almiron ➡️ Elanga

Wilson ➡️ Wissa

I think it's fair to say that's a canny upgrade, squad is better for it

Just the Isak situation to resolve too

Very true, but the caveat being, it hasn't increased the numbers, and we need to do that badly with the four competitions.

I think we’ll be in a much better position though with even just the floor coming up and the quality of the squad being better. In so much as Eddie will lean on the squad more than he did during the last CL campaign where he ran everyone into the ground. The trust will be higher (again, hopefully) so the burden will be shared more equally amongst everyone.

(I would like to see more bodies in too)

Fair point, agree he's going to rotate more. Still think we need another two or so, but the squad is definitely better. Isak being a massive twat aside.

There’s also limits to how much we can increase the numbers. We’re butting up pretty close to the 25-person squad limit as it is.

You know what, this window is still salvageable. OK, it doesn't look like we're going to be landing any purples unless we cash in on the serpentine Swede but we know Eddie can cook with players who have some rough edges to smooth out. Those premium priced players like Ekitike and Sesko are still out of our range but they're by no means the finished articles themselves anyway.

Every player we've brought in improves the berth that they're now occupying and will push the starters in that position which will in turn make them better players if they have a deputy chomping at their heels, iron sharpens iron.

Of course, there is a snake shaped elephant in the room that still needs addressed but (at least for me) the mood music has changed in the past week or so and I genuinely don't see us selling Isak for anything that doesn't suit us.

It'll be alreet lads

We are replacing the subs bench of those not up to snuff with those who likely can properly fill in. That's not so bad at all, and will probably significantly take the minutes load off of our first team.
