Kimbo
2 hours ago, r0cafella said: Hide contents So, where does Newcastle’s transfer business stand? Although the frustration of supporters is shared internally, there is no sense of panic — which is unlikely to pacify fans understandably impatient for additions following three successive windows without a first-XI signing. Howe is restless for additions, too, and would prefer to be welcoming new players for pre-season training when it begins on Monday. The expectation inside Newcastle is that the market will heat up once players return to their clubs for pre-season — and the hope is that an initial signing with generate momentum for others to follow. A goalkeeper, centre-back, right-winger and versatile forward are still wanted. James Trafford is the top goalkeeper target and, while talks continue with Burnley, Newcastle are yet to reach a fee, even if those around the deal have always presented a confidence it will get done. At right wing, Newcastle never strongly pursued Antoine Semenyo due to his valuation, even before the Ghana forward signed a contract extension at Bournemouth. Their interest in Elanga remains, however, following an initial £45m bid being rejected. Guehi is still on their wanted list, too, although there are alternative centre-back options. Where Newcastle turn next, if anywhere at all, in their hunt for a forward is unclear. A first senior signing would help everyone, inside and outside of the club, settle down. There is internal confidence it will come — even if Newcastle are operating without a sporting director following Mitchell’s exit on Monday — but, until it does, supporter apprehension will only grow. Athletic. @SUPERTOON If the club is still hoping they can get Guehi then I think we’re pretty fucked.

You may call it too remote but look at Mitchell. Good point to be fair. They're only one of the most evil regimes in history, they'd not want unfairly sacking a football manager on their record. Stal
I had this thought, maybe we have some of our major signings done but we won't announce it until we have them all and have a mega press conference/event. As I said you may call it remote but you guys should bear in mind that Howe was Staveleys choice, not PIF. Eales was appointed by PIF, and so as Mitchell, and we all witnessed what happened last year. I genuinely don’t think the club is THAT supportive to Howe since Staveleys left. Believe it or don’t. Shearergol
PIF1: "Not sure on this Howe chap, and now he's won a cup and qualified for the CL he's gonna be hard to get rid of." PIF2: "Just sack him, we own the club" PIF1: "Can we do that?" PIF2: "Yeah, we can do anything" PIF1: "Do you not think that might lead to bad press? Wouldn't it better to completely devalue the club by not signing any players for him, failing in all competitions and then giving us an excuse?" PIF2: "Fair point. Lads, offer Forest less than £60m for Elanga please, new approach." Edited July 3, 2025 by Shearergol
Abacus
Now lads, we've all had a coffee. But I simply have to agree that this all is an unnecessarily complicated Wile E Coyote style plan by PIF to get rid of Eddie Howe for some reason by backing him and leaving him in charge of everything. On the other hand, I did recently have a bump on the head.

KaKa
I'm bored ... Been wondering about other versatile youngish forwards that could offer similar things to what we all hoped Joao Pedro would. One that can play upfront and also in behind the striker, and thread passes through that open up defences. I wonder if we'd look at De Ketelaere at Atalanta. Ticks a lot of those boxes.
