NUFC Transfer Rumours

Tell me more? Looked nothing special when I watched him against Man City which is the level we need to be aiming for to improve.

Admittedly I give him a slight ‘Wolves are shite’ benefit of the doubt. But I’ve always been impressed when I’ve watched them, big target man with good link up play & always seems to get a shot through when he gets in the box.

Not an Isak level talent by any means, but I think he’d work well with our wingers.

Wilson list: Mateta or Wissa or Guirhassy

Isak list: Offer Juve 50-60m for David, so they make an immediate profit on him, or double the money Galatasary paid for Osimhen

Or take one of Thuram or Martinez from Inter

Ronaldo on loan from Al-Nassr would be epic just for the PR

19 goals last season. Don’t understand why people are dubious about a 19 goal  striker in a struggling side.

Do you ever consider wages when you make these lists?

This is exactly why all the fucking about in June and July was so frustrating at the time, the consequences of not getting a striker earlier in the window (even if we did have to play more than we would have liked) are being felt now. The prices were always going to go through the roof the longer we held off. We're now between a rock and a hard place and there's a genuine risk of not having a single adequate striker at the club after the window has closed. I can understand not being held over a barrel and paying too much - I completely get it. Once you overpay for one player then you're going to see every other club do the same - it's sound logic. Problem is, what are the consequences of not paying it and being forced to play about 30 games without one? Pick your poison

Getting Thiaw and Ramsey went some way towards saving the window but not sorting the striker problem would send it back into failure. It was the priority position :hmm:

We tried to buy about 5 different strikers in June and July to replace Wilson , none of them wanted to come here . Isak then started acting the cunt and is nobody available deemed good enough to replace him.

Its an interesting topic thinking of strikers for us

Clearly we like / prioritise a certain type, ala Isak, Ekitike, Pedro

And there doesn't appear to be any left. Larsen and Wissa seem like a different type of striker, I wonder what we prefer vs what is the better value for money

14, no? Jackson scored more totally in 23-24

I'm not confident either. Wolves aren't going to sell us Strand Larsen with 2 weeks left of the window, so I'm hoping the only reason his name is being mentioned now is because we have our real striker target well under wraps from prying media eyes. Although fuck knows who it could be.

Think now the only option is to keep Isak and try to look for a veteran striker who isn't first choice at their current club to replace Wilson. Get a little more out of Osula.

Can't see us getting an elite level striker that would allow Isak to leave. Things like signing Wolves' first choice striker seem crazy, they would be basically accepting a relegation battle.

Fully aware of that

Trying to sign strikers is great, failing to land a single one of them doesn't help us though. I appreciate they got led on and let down but the fact remains they haven't replaced Wilson yet, let alone got a solution to the Isak issue. Not everything has been in their control, I appreciate that, but they've still failed to get one as of 19th August. We have another 25 games to play before the January window opens again

That statement probably applies to most strikers playing up top for relegation candidates against one of the title favourites though.

There is no Isak list. We are looking for one forward now if list has merged. It’s Wilson we are looking to replace.

Personally, I only consider goals SteV. Lots and lots of glorious net busting goals.
Joking aside, Osimhen (admittedly never seen live and mainly highlights rather than full games) is the best out and out striker I have seen since prime Shearer. I’d happily splurge everything we can get for Isak on him (assuming he would come and isn’t an absolute arsehole).

You know who I'm surprised hasn't come up? Mainly because we've been linked with everyone else. Gabriel Jesus.

Not saying he'd be great because his goalscoring record isn't amazing, but he's probably good enough at the non-goalscoring stuff to have at least been linked.

They can show pace. Power. Good ball manipulation. Mateta for example catches my eye when up against the top sides.

He's got a tear in his Cruciate ligament and is out until November at the earliest.

he's out with a cruciate ligament injury he picked up in March. So I wouldn't have thought he'd be available until ~October at the earliest?
