I know it's not just a case of bringing forward any plans we had for the summer but surely there's a CB we'd have been looking at bringing in post season that's available even if the price is a bit higher than it would be come June. Our injury situation will define what we will do or won't do. If everyone is fit and available we have a really balanced squad. We’re another injury or two away from a crisis at the back and given all the competitions we’re still in and sitting pretty in the league it would be negligent for the club not to bring in some kind of reinforcement at the back. The current fit defenders are likely to get injuries if they’re playing game after game and some of the fit ones are already injury prone. Not sure how that would change going into start of this window, and now with more injuries how we are not doing business. And how it compromises summer buisness? These are players we need for both now and next season, so they need signing at some point. Or we’ve gone back to having a ceiling on what we will offer after overspending on players in summer. Tino played 37 out of 38 PL games last season, then a full summer tournament with maybe a week off before coming back for pre-season, then played every minute early season because there was nobody else when Hall got injured. Livramento getting injured a bit this season has nothing to do with being “injury prone”. It’s just bad squad building. Your first choice right back cannot be your back up left back, that’s crazy. Exactly. Not every player coming in has to be a £30-50m proven PL player. We need to build a squad, and the best way to do that is take some punts from abroad. This has worked out well for many clubs in the league, and if we did the same, our key players wouldn't be ran into the ground and be rushed back. That's not quite what happened though is it? We also have Burn who can cover LB, Krafth and Trips for RB. We were so comfortable we could loan out Targett. We have Lascelles/Schar/Thiaw/Botman on top of that for 2 CB positions. I'm not saying I like those FB options or don't want more, but we were pretty well covered before a ridiculous number of injuries. And we have to start playing our younger players in some games. Players such as A Murphy, Shahar, Alabi and Neave should get some minutes to gain experience.
