Keep him away from Pep and his post match fawns. Protect the lad from that Catalonian toucher.

He's off in July.

Joelinton should man mark Pep after full time, he's more dangerous to our defenders than Haaland.

Be worried we would end up throwing him in the deep end if he plays against City after so long out. Plus it was the city game last time he got injured.

Although the games after that are Barca twice and Chelsea so guess there's no choice but to chuck him in and hope his body holds together.

A Tino at his best would definitely give us a better chance defensively in some of these tough games however. Trippier was good against Man U but his lack of mobility still got exposed even in a game he was excellent in.

Maybe his injury record is scaring City off

Probably reasonable to conclude this. He'd cost an absolute mint due to his age and England status, but hasn't shown the ability to stay fit so far.

Blessing and a curse for us.

Heard a City journalist the other day saying they are definitely interested but there is a concern about his injuries and the transfer fee they would be willing to pay would reflect that.  Guess that would be a lot lower than we would want.

I think he's class, but we can't afford to carry injury prone players, and that's where he is atm. Botman the same. We've taken advantage and a bit of a punt on him, maybe tinos interest does down and we do the same.

If not, sell him and replace him with the Brentford & genoa rb's. That's probably the smart move rather than keeping him and hope he can stay fit all season.

I really don’t get the Fabrizio hate. Before  him there was zero credibility in rumours, at least now you can just wait for him to tweet.

Maintain he’s a very good defender, but I don’t think he moves the needle at all at City or is even their first choice.

Appreciate this is the Tino thread but (and I hope I'm not cursing things here) Botman's knee has been stronger this year. His recent short lay-off was his back I think. Still an injury but I was worried he'd end up with lots of niggly knee injuries this year.

I still think he has the potential to get back close to his first season and with Thiaw there, backed up by the two old timers Schär and Burn, we could be OK there next year. I'd love a bit more recovery pace in central defence though.

I'd like us to keep Tino, he's so so good, we just need a reliable, younger back up so the drop off isn't so noticeable, a bit of rotation to stop him breaking down so much.

As brilliant a defender he is, he’s got room for improvement in the final 3rd and we can’t afford to have him regularly injured, but if having a good back up elleviates   that who knows. It is more of a gamble with him as injuries are a thing. If a decent offer comes in I can see us selling. City will emphasise the injury record IF they do bid just to bring his price down.

I think his injury record is massively overstated and probably has some extreme recency bias.

He's been in and out this season, but his first injury was in the Arsenal game and only came about due to Saliba doing the cunts trick of shoving him in the back while he's in the air and he's done his knee when landing awkwardly due to said shove. We've then had to play him pretty much every game as Trippier and Krafth were out, and he looked like he needed a rest before he got this injury. I'm not convinced it's anything to do with him playing in the U21 Euros either. Anderson played in them and played just as many minutes last season and this, it's just one of those things.

In his first two years with us he's made 35 and 45 appearances, the first year coming off the back of a cruciate ligament injury and when Trippier was still clear first choice until he started shagging around. It's not really as if he's a perma crock (yet!)

I don’t really believe in being injury prone TBH, unless it’s the same recurring issue. Most of the time it’s just bad luck.

Yep, unless the underlying bodily weakness/damage throws you/your body alignment out of kilter and makes you prone to other, seemingly unrelated, injuries.

I just learned a new word.

Me too! Question, who is the most fitting coprophage who comes to mind:

Serbian agent (of you know who) Vlado Lemić?

Fabrizio Romano?

Other suggestions welcomed @Mike
