If we play that back 5 a lot we need him to be better on the ball. He showed some nice glimpses in the second half mind. Yep, I was concerned in the first half hour, but he got stronger as the game went on. We need more quality on the ball throughout the team, and he looks like he could be part of the solution. Smal
he really grew into it. Was dodgy for the first half an hour but then started winning a few duels and picked up significantly second half. We really need him back and playing well. Gives us so much control when he’s evading the opponent’s press. Love Trips but he’s 35 now. He should be the one who comes in to give players like Hall/Tino a rest. Hanshithispantz
He seems to have added a few turns to his repertoire.
ToonAbroad
Delighted he got the full 90 minutes, will do him the world of good. Can see him rested midweek and then back in for Arsenal.
Groundhog63
Struggled a bit at first but grew into it. Just what he needed.
gazza ladra
Welcome return. OK, so i get why he didn't start against Barcelona. He'll play himself into our first 11 and the England squad.
Gallowgate Toon
The back 3 was really important for him today, imo. Expecting him to go 1v1 against a quick attack for his first start in 6 months would've been a potential confidence killer.
Menace
He was good but you can see why Howe wasn't rushing him back, he was rusty and grew into the game. Starting him against Barca would've backfired so again Howe gets it right on this one.

With four games coming up in next few weeks can see him getting more minutes in a couple of them to get him up to speed and reach quality he had before the injury. Lotus
I thought as the game wore on and their physicality tapered off, his better technique start to shine through a bit more. Very happy to see him back and look forward to him contributing through the season.

NSG
More like his normal self tonight. Still think he’ll sit out Arsenal but may come back in for USG and/or Forest. Great to have him back.

alexf
Some good runs forward and more importantly some good passes into him by Gordon. Need them to build an understanding and lock down that left side together for the foreseeable.

wormy
Well thank fuck for that. Hopefully it's a little too cliché even for us to end up with both of our young star full backs out at once. Seems a little strange to not even put him in the subs but I guess we still managed a reasonably strong bench for now.
Mazzy
Quite poor when he came on. Really needs minutes and a run of games to get back to his best. Annoyingly not sure he'll get that until closer to Christmas.

Should be starting Saturday, it’s then a small break and a run after that of starts. He’s been back since start of season, fitness should be more than established by now. If not, there’s something wrong with him that club are concerned about if we’re still managing minutes in late October.

He wont be starting this weekend though if last night is anything to go by.
