gazza ladra
Guess that means Glasner won't be going to Man United this season then... Nah, the minute Amorim is out the door he'll be packing his bags. Probably before that. Edited September 2, 2025 by gazza ladra

It's a shame for Amorim as well as I don't know where he will go from here, even Froggy is happy with an upper mid-table finish this season. It's like they've been bottom half for years, but they haven't.

TBG
"As an evertonian that supports Liverpool and was infamously caught spitting on someone, I know a thing or two about respect. Ha ha no but seriously, has Guehi shown too much respect to Palace? No seriously. Look I'm not saying he should have done an Isak or a Wissa, but when a bigger club comes in for you, you sometimes have to force the move or say 'Look I have one year left on my contract, we're both financially better of if we just sort this between ourselves in the summer'" "So Jamie will Liverpool make another move in January or wait for Guehi to run down his contract, because a lot of Liverpool fans, yourself included, were not happy with Trent running down his contract" "Woah Gary. That's not the same and you know fine well it isn't! Madrid took the piss and what you've done is also personally attack Liverpool and i'm having none of it" Edited September 2, 2025 by TBG

TK-421
There's definitely a tide turning, that "if only Guehi had kicked up a fuss, he'd have his move now" rather than doubling down and criticising those (Wissa included) who did kick up the fuss. Think the Isak and Wissa moves could prove dangerous for football going forward, and/or contracts are going to have to have more clauses in to try and prevent it. To my understanding you can't fine a player his wages for longer than a few weeks? It should be the case that you can fine them their entire wage until they finally decide to play again.. That would only be fair, and we would see less of this thing. Edited September 3, 2025 by Erikse

Given the inflation, I think more players will seek (what they consider) sensible release fees in their contracts too.
11Tino11
I watched a clip of Mark Chapmans podcast with Lassana Diarra's lawyer (think it was posted in here) in which he said in the future mandatory release clauses might have to be introduced similar to La Liga but with more realistic numbers to give the player an out and also to protect clubs from a legal standpoint against players going on strike or threatening to rip up contracts due to them agreeing the number in advance. I'm guessing if we'd done that with Isak his figure would have been something between £90-110m.

The amount we paid for him I don't think the price we ended up getting would have been considered unreasonable as a release clause imo.
