I'm afraid his biggest problem is his footballing IQ an that's not something that the coaches can do much with, might be overly harsh but the last time i saw a player play like him for us it was Gabriel Obertan who was physically impressive but always did the wrong thing in position.

Something he did well in the second half was just keeping it simple and moving the ball on his right foot and crossing, a few times Woltemade could've got on the end of them and score.

Forest got a tune out of him so their coaches could do plenty with him.

Does seem to have a good inside run in his locker.

He started figuring out to speed things up in that second half/grew in confidence to take risks. We have a tendency to overwork triangles out wide. Sometimes, they're good, but you want to see early balls whipped in as well.

Gordon has fallen into this trap many a time too but seems to have gone much more direct in his last 2 appearances.

I was 100% confident before today he would come good (still hopeful)

But I have to admit he baffles me the way he plays , his brain seems to be going quicker than his feet , he literally hasn’t got a clue what to do for the best (he seems to have no awareness at all) and constantly losing the ball or running into dead ends ……looked woeful today

I said pretty much the opposite before he signed though, looked like a really unselfish player who releases the ball well and makes good decisions.

It's very weird how much he's struggled. Can only think something about the move and the new environment. Who knows.

Thought it was one of his better games 😅

Although has some very weird moments.

He hasn't shown anything like that for us though so shouldn't start in these next 2 massive games. As things stand right now Murphy is miles clear of Elanga.

Not sure about that after that shitshow against Spurs mind. But he's got more credit in the bank than Elanga for now so probably right.

Aye. Irrespective of the last 2 or 3 games Murphy has been our best winger for over a year.

A lot of us need to accept him for what he is and hope for the best. Yep he’s technically below average. Yep his footballing IQ seems bad. He’s not the long term answer for the position.

But he has skills and abilities that we need to help him harness. He has the capacity to contribute well. Today sounded like a step in the right direction.

Ridiculously backhanded compliment

His crossing was a lot better today and he “seems” like he’s heading in the right direction. He does do some odd things though, loose passes and strange decisions. He definitely looks like he’s trying a bit too hard and trying to get over a confidence issue and I just don’t get people who’d sit and berate him in the ground. He could really do with a goal though to help him along. I’m still confident we’ll see a much better player second half of the season but I agree with a comment able that I’m not sure he’s our answer on the RW moving forwards. I see him as another option with a new RW coming in and maybe Murphy being moved on. Expensive squad player addition if that’s the case though.

In a game where I thought nobody really shone for us, bar Gordon and Thiaw. I thought he was decent enough.

It can’t help that every time he gets the ball. The whole crowd seem to moan and groan and are just waiting for a perceived mistake so they can kick off.

The bloke behind me in the Leazes was a special case. Everything he did was wrong.

“Where’s he going. He’s going too wide?!”

”Why is he coming inside?!”

“Why is he not running in behind?!”

”What’s he doing coming short?!”

”Why isn’t he taking him on?!”

”What’s he doing taking him on?!”

”Why’s he not 9 foot tall so he could have got on the end of it.”

Then just generally abusing him at every opportunity. Saying how crap he is, the club is too big for him etc.

And the real truth of it is that some supporters really don't have a clue but couple it with the confidence of Guadiola
