Why do you lads listen to Romano when he says who Sesko would prefer to go to, but whenever he suggests that Newcastle are prepared to match the financials you act like it's total rubbish.

This is the problem lads.

 Because we're fucking mental.

It’s plausible that Newcastle can meet financials currently in the discussion, we obviously can’t keep matching the financials of clubs with much higher spending limits.

Tbf we don't need Romano to tell us foreign players would prefer to go to Man U if all else is equal. I already said they have more pull globally because of their history. Only way we could catch up is with massive spending like Chelsea and Man City did.

Romano is exceptional at his job like, it's hard to be mad at him [emoji38]

It's a look into how important it is to have the right people leading transfers, and how fucked we are going into them with Andy Howe leading.

It's a completely different world and it seems like we're just having the piss taken out of us by agents. Vivell probably doesn't turn up to a meeting without half a dozen brasses and a small satchel of pure Andean cocaine.

Are people happy to have this bloke as the Isak replacement? For me it's massively underwhelming.

I'd take him over Ollie Watkins any day of the week.

So would Sir Jim Ratshit I think, I think he might go over Amorin's head and pitch in for him now we've made our move.

Take your point, but tbh, it would be almost impossible to recruit someone of a similar level to Isak.

We have to hope that if he does go, we get someone who’s arguably at the level of Isak when he first signed and we develop him further, whilst using the additional funds to improve other positions.

I’ve seen nowhere near enough of this lad to form an opinion of whether he’s at that level mind.

Given what you paid for Elanga, I think it's plausible that you would have paid what Brentford wanted for Mbeumo, and definitely would have offered him the same wage we did given you have multiple players in your squad on the same wage. Same for Ekitike, same for Cunha, same for Sesko etc.

Do we even know what your budget is? Some huge fees being talked about on top of the £55m already spent on Elanga, especially with the likes of Sesko/Ekitike and I'm sure they were independent of Trafford etc. Sounds like you've plenty to spend, but just haven't convinced the player to join.

"Pull" is BS.

If we offered 3% more than Man U, he'd join us.

No he wouldn't. If you'd said 10% might have been reasonable.

As others have said, in terms of replacing a striker widely seen as one of the best in the world, anyone is going to be underwhelming. I think Sesko, both in terms of his attributes and 'prestige', is the best available for filling that hole.

Who would you be looking at to feel happier?

FWIW I think we need 2 forwards, Wissa would be ideal since he's experienced and proven in the PL.

Imagine you’d qualified for CL and we hadn’t though. Do you think the ‘financials’ would be even remotely competitive?

I don't think you could describe getting Sesko in as underwhelming though, for me it would be very exciting. It doesn't mean he's currently as good as Isak, but all things considered.

He seems to have been labelled as just a powerful striker, but his link up play outside the box seems good too.  I think he could fit our system well - he offers a lot of what Isak does (although not as well) but hes also tall and strong.  There's always a chance a striker will flop, but he does look made for the Premier League

Nobody, as Isak is irreplaceable. If the club are serious about being number 1 they'd be getting Sesko to play alongside Isak.

And what if Man U raise their offer? I’m not even saying that all financials being equal a player wouldn’t pick Man U, but we can’t get into a bidding war on transfer fees or wages with ESL clubs, we can’t win. Man U will always be able to top whatever we offer.

I'm not sure Sesko and Isak are well suited to play together. If we sign Sesko it's because Isak has gone. Jackson would work with Isak. I think with Jackson as well Isak would score more.
