Would people really prefer Ramos?

Not for me. Sesko is quicker and more suited to our game, and likely hungrier to in making a clear step up.

Ramos is a bit too one paced. Plus the curse of Portuguese strikers all being a bit crap in any proper league, Ronaldo aside.

Once we start bidding for Ramos people will tell us to move on from that as well.

If the Ramos link was concrete (let's see), i don't think anyone would choose this lad.

The biggest issue here if we don't sign him is another knock back and another week plus wasted.

I would. Don’t particularly rate Ramos, think Sesko has more potential and the age difference means Sesko’s value is more likely to increase over the next few years.

If its clear he isn't interested in joining and we still have other major holes to fill in the squad then aye.

I find it bizarre that some think that some of the most talented players in the world would be “desperate” to join Newcastle over other big clubs, unless they have some previous positive affiliation with us, which let’s be real not many would have considering they were brought up when we had Ashley stinking the place out. For Sesko, and any other player, the ultimate proof is in whether he joins in the end or not. Any player willing to commit a large part of their future here obviously does so because they’re convinced it will benefit them. And as said before, we shouldn’t be surprised to face stern competition for this type of player. I’d be more worried if we were after a lesser level of player who would genuinely be desperate to join a club like us.

It's not easy to read as a toon fan, but anyone who can detach themselves from Newcastle bias can see the truth in it. We actually get some recognition at home, that's why former Arsenal players like Ramsdale will jump at the chance to sign up, but abroad we are less well known because we've done nothing for half a century.

It's why we should be less quick to bin off players who did actually sign up like Isak. It's not nice to see he wants to move on, but top players want to play at the top level and earn top money. If we can get another year out of him that's still not a bad deal. Sesko? Who knows if he'll even turn up here at this stage, he clearly fancies himself as already a top tier player.

Until Ramos says ONLY WANTS SPURS

Jokes aside, assuming Sesko does go to Man Utd, there's only really Spurs left from the ESL chums who might theoretically gazump us on a striker, am I right? Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea will have all invested heavily in their front-lines recently, but Spurs have Son to replace. No idea if their finances would allow and maybe they're not after a CF anyway.

The comfort you take from this saga ending is that we'll be chasing less-coveted players without direct competition from those teams operating without our constraints. I suppose if Watkins goes we'll have Villa to contend with but CL is our trump card there.

I genuinely think stuff will happen quite quickly after this, and we shall have our dopamine.

Will there be any strikers left by that point?

Aston Villa need a striker, only got Watkins. If they're in talks for Asensio, I'm sure they would ask the question about Ramos to see what the crack is.

Spurs got Solanke as the big ticket forward and would need to move on Richarlison before signing another (especially a high cost one). Wissa is someone I can see them going for if Frank wants an attacker.

Villa would have to make a reasonably significant sale to be able to afford someone like Ramos I think.

Yeah, they gambled loads of money on those loan players and didn’t get CL. Can’t be feeling flush with money.

Villa aren't a cartel club. If we lose out on a player to them you can only shrug your shoulders and say not meant to be. I would fancy our chances against any club outside of the cartel though.

Don't need to be inside this thing to see what every single media report (that local one aside) said about this - that he was waiting for Man United and preferred Man United.

Most have reported he's open to both clubs and hadn't made a decision.

The “European expert” on SSN that claimed Sesko wants Man Utd… some bloke called Kevin Hatchard. You know, that really well known, well respected, journalist who always breaks the big stories. 🙄

He's primarily on TalkSport who have been running with that via Alex Crook.

I'm not doubting he might prefer Man United and I still think he ends up there, but there's no suggestion he's "holding out for them" yet.

Reminds me of Micheal Owen situation where will outbid clubs for sesko but does he really want to be here.

Either way there is a storm brewing

I don't think anyone can be as much of a cunt as Owen, not even Isak.

I think all the media outlets have been saying this for a while to be honest.

It feels like even if we gazumped their offer he’d fuck off rventually as he clearly wants Man U and has never ever hidden it.

Can we please stop 'x player wants y club' slipping into everyday parlance? See it creeping it already, down with this sort of thing.

X player wants to join Y club or a ban please.

THEHOOB ONLY WANTS A BAN
