More nonsense. It’s all about the number. Replacements won’t come cheap and we have a squad to build if we want to continue to progress towards out objectives. There’s no way we’re letting Isak go for a penny less than out valuation. Not with 3 years left on his deal and with only a direct rival at the table.

All I can say is I’m glad none of you are negotiating on our behalf. We hold all the cards yet most of you can’t wait to hand our world class striker over to a rival club for less than we’d consider good value ffs

Great post.

Exactly this.

We've also been firm in our stance. There's been no 'we'll let him leave when a replacement comes in'. That's all been agent/media conjecture.

Let's see how it plays out, the offer they made was derisory and not worthy of considering. If they came back with say 130 +10 let's see if we have the same resolve.

Again we shouldn't be selling to them period and with no exception, this is the second summer those cunts have derailed. I wouldn't do any deals with them period.

One of these has got to land for Christ’s sake. I like that we’re going for top targets but it’s harming the club’s image to get pied off time after time.

It does, but mainly because the club needs new players.

I severely doubt the image is changed at all outside of internet fans on Twitter. None of this is real and nobody that matters (i.e new players) cares about it.

I mean, it's clearly obvious though isn't it?

We've thrown a bid in only to hear nothing.  He's dragging his heels until they can make an offer.

Strengthen other places, try again for Wissa and don't let Isak leave.

I find it bizarre that we only want to sign players ‘who desperately want to play for Newcastle United’ yet we’re waiting a week for this lad to make his mind up.

It's a clear contradiction indeed.

That was then, when we had the recruitment staff and a plan. We’re desperate now.

Needs must. But, and this relates to your point, it might end-up being the lesser of two evils. We might gloss over any reluctance from Šeško if Isak is playing hard ball with a definitely don’t want to be here position. Yasir et al can play hardball right back and give a suck it message to him, I imagine in no uncertain terms, but if Howe and coaching team are fixed on the we don’t want anyone who doesn’t want us and is spoiling the team spirit, then the collective decision may be to let him go.

Nah, I think general fans are also reveling in the schadenfreude too. Saw some cringe YouTube channels (“aura loss summer; toon can’t rizz up any ballers or bagsmen. L club.”) As well as traditional media discussing our failure to attract the big names.

Remember, it started with, "he's interested in the project" to now hearing "He favours ManU"

we had some justification in pursuing this; now we're looking for the definitive.

I find it bizarre that some think that some of the most talented players in the world would be “desperate” to join Newcastle over other big clubs, unless they have some previous positive affiliation with us, which let’s be real not many would have considering they were brought up when we had Ashley stinking the place out. For Sesko, and any other player, the ultimate proof is in whether he joins in the end or not. Any player willing to commit a large part of their future here obviously does so because they’re convinced it will benefit them. And as said before, we shouldn’t be surprised to face stern competition for this type of player. I’d be more worried if we were after a lesser level of player who would genuinely be desperate to join a club like us.

We’re all about the team. One way or another we will get what we need and make them tick. Total faith in Howe et al. Less so in the back room set-up at the minute but they wouldn’t leave us high and dry.

We’ve obviously been encouraged by something.

We probably have but we let these things drag on for so long that it's damaging. Offer a fee to the club and agree wages. Then it's a yes or no within 48 hours or we'll move on. We've wasted so much time when we're pretty desperate for numbers.

We've thrown a bid in and Leipzig have asked us to make the terms more favourable.

He might have a preference for Man United, but if that's what he's waiting for his agent would have no doubt briefed the press. I'd wager he's open to both moves.

That said, I do think he ends up at Man United, I can see us walking away if there are no developments by midweek.

The fact that I truly believe that the club will be much better off selling Isak next year (both financially and on the pitch) and the complete trust I have in Howe and the technical staff to make it work. Let it be known he can be picked up from next June onwards for anything over 120m and we’ll have the likes of Barcelona, Bayern and PSG at the table vying for his signature if he’s had a good season, which will be in his and out interest.

Isak has forced us into a corner

I have no doubt we will sign a couple of strikers and sell Isak for under £150m

Quilts like Rory Jennings, who I wouldn’t listen to if he was standing at my front door. Don’t engage with these rage baiting window lickers.
