The most important news in there:

"Newcastle are close to announcing the appointment of David Hopkinson as chief executive and Ross Wilson as sporting director."

Close #wait.

Next week it will be imminent.

Just like with Ekitike, there is no scenario where we sign this guy AND keep Isak.

Anything stated like that is purely negotiation tactic to avoid low ball bids for Isak.

The whole thing is making me nauseous though. Just hating this whole summer window.

Was really excited once we got CL aswell thinking it guaranteed one more year of Isak and hopefully significant investment elsewhere. So far it's looking like it will be the opposite.

Apparently we had a transfer target list if we got into the champions league and a list if we didn’t. I dread to think who was on the list if we didn’t.

Maybe that was the mistake, we went fishing in the same pond as the cartel where we currently can't compete on wages, maybe should have stuck with next tier down and relied on Eddie polishing some diamonds, it's worked very well so far.

Yes until we grow our revenue pushing back against these ridiculous PSR parameters there’s literally no point going for players or at least all your targets being premier league players where rivals can blow you out of the water wages wise. I guess with Delap they thought Howe/the allure of St James might get him but wages proved key.

But we can't really grow our revenue unless we have those players to keep us at the top end :banghead:

It's absurd. Basically can't invest to grow.

Yeah it’s mental mate. I even had a mackem patient in the other day say how absurd it was both for clubs coming up and for clubs trying to achieve anything vs the top 6.

Were basically fucked to a point.
