Warming the bench whilst his home town club is challenging for the prem. Good move lad.

Well he's not good enough to surpass a lazy braindead willock so not sure he would be getting many minutes for PL chasing villa [emoji38]

He was sold due to PSR in the same way Anderson was. Top tier posting as usual.

I don't find it a baffling signing at all. We needed to replace Longstaff, he's a good player with a good track record in this league, and we paid a competitive price. What's baffling is that we can't get him in the team.

The go-to continuously seems to be to question the decisions we made over the window but I'll stubbornly argue - until definitively proven otherwise - that the managerial choices game-to-game, week-to-week are the issue moreso than recruitment choices.

Just can't understand why we don't play him. He's got the quick feet and attacking thread that we're so badly lacking at the moment.

He’s not helped at all by us not pressing at all. He would look much better if we did. It’s why the signing at the minute makes zero sense.

They didn’t need to sell for PSR unless they wanted to buy (which they didn’t). They sold because it was a very good deal for someone who was a bench player.

That's a fair comment. You watch his highlight reels from Villa and there's loads of instances of him nicking the ball of opposing defenders or deep midfielders and forcing attacks. He looks very well suited to the 22-24 version of us.

In the same way selling Anderson was a good deal vs the other players we could have sold. They 100% had to comply with PSR.

I just don’t know why we can’t go back to this. Reason we signed more of the same I thought was so we could keep playing that way with similar players and not have a drop off. Instead we’ve gone into a passive pragmatic side, and it’s not helping any players.

I thought our transfer business this summer was cack-handed even if a mixture of perseverance and money spent meant that we ended up filling most of the holes in our squad. After signing Elanga we achieved very little over the next month while the Isak saga blew up. And as we chased numerous strikers in desperate fashion, elsewhere we continually reverted to old targets. The result in my opinion shows a lack of cohesion. Elanga and Ramsey seem more suited to our old way of playing and they don't seem to fit as well with Woltemade up top.

Ramsey for me is the hardest of our signings to defend. I think we are crying out for two types of midfielder: a proper holding player and someone with the nous and ball control to create and help us retain possession higher up.

Ramsey fills neither role. He looks like a less impulsive version of Willock but isn't a whole lot younger and has had plenty of injury troubles of his own. You have the three of them in him, Willock and Joelinton who have had plenty of injury bother and have played pretty much exclusively down the left side. None of them have the presence or guile or composure to allow us to rest Bruno and Tonali with any degree of confidence. It feels like a poor use of the funds.
