Agree on the lightweight assessment, that's why he gives me Willock vibes. Although it's still early days, and even if you aren't the most combative midifielder, you can make up for it with skill and end product. He might still have all that in his locker, I just haven't seen it yet.

Willock looks a better athlete though.  Or should i say a more powerful runner.  From the little I’ve seen Ramsey doesn’t cover the grass as well.  And I’ve not seen any baller in him yet.

Early days I guess.

Ramsey wasn't good enough to start for Villa and he's not good enough to start for us. At best he's an attacking 8 or a Rodgers (very light) 10. Howe expects all of his midfield 3 to do everything, Ramsey can't defend. Not sure why we bought him. He's maybe no better or possibly worse that Willock and he should have been sold two years ago.

This is just wrong. The reason he didn’t play was more to do with injuries and lacking match fitness. He’s absolutely good enough, I agree that he’s not a good defender but he’s a very attacking player who will open up teams that defend with 10 players behind the ball. The desire to write people off based on watching a handful of minutes is genuinely absurd. I watched him a lot at Villa, the lad is class and will prove it here if he stays fit

Not true. He played a lot of minutes last season as a rotation option.

He probably wasn’t in their strongest team but he was a valuable member of the squad.

I've not seen much evidence of his ability to open up teams so far. He looks like he can get into space so maybe we could get goals from him hopefully, but he hasn't shown much ability to go past players yet.

Strange because Howe has nothing but praise for him and seems to really rate him. He'll come good, be patient.

Cannot be having a go at the lad if he barely gets picked.

You can see he's got quality in his game he's just had the minutes to prove himself.

He's a quality player, but he had two problems with us - maintaining his consistency (more of a problem when we started buying better players, might be a confidence thing), and his massive bad luck with injuries.

He's had a recurring foot problem from when he broke his foot playing for England U21s when some cunt stamped on him.

I really like JJ, though, and so do almost all Villa fans. We were gutted when he was the PSR sacrificial lamb last summer (although I can understand why it was him).

Bang average game and bang average in his time here so far - has shown absolutely nothing to warrant his price. Hopefully shows what he's about in the second half of the season because I see not a single positive identifiable quality.

Can't see him deserving of a start ahead of Miley at the moment though.
