He was a good player at Villa who will most likely come good, but if the last transfer window should have taught us anything, it's that it's not worth paying the premium for "PL ready".

100%. Especially when none of them (at their previous clubs) looked like they could take us to the next level.

Given how shit he is with his feet but good with his hands, and how shit Ramsdale is with his hands but good with his feet, well boy do I have a good idea for the next match.

Feels like we've spent big money on players who haven't improved the side. At least Thiaw and Woltemade look like decent investments so I guess you can't win them all.

I guess we'll see in time. Many were saying the same thing about the 23/24 summer.

Almost every time i've seen him this season he looked so average. not physically strong or technically able, doesn't help the defense or attack and when you think of how much we've  paid for him that's really disappointing. Joe Willock looks a far more established player compared to him.

Hopefully he will grow into the team but like Elanga it's worrying as we are almost in the middle of the season.

He’ll be fine, good player. He really needs a run of games. He was effective going forwards today I thought, his passing is nice and crisp on the break. I haven’t seen the handball as I was sat in the Gallowgate.

I don’t think he gets that run of games though

He'll be 25 at season's end. We probably have an 18-24 month window where we could get back a good amount of what we paid from another PL club.

But Willock looks to be in better form than him, which is highly concerning.

Is this partly Willock either playing for a contract extension or to secure a transfer elsewhere?

Both him and elanga came from the league and while every transfer is a gamble it could end up costing nearly 100m for the pair. People rightly or wrongly put a high level of expectation on them due to this. They arent 20 year old raw gambles from abroad they are tried and tested.

Critique like "tidy" or "did ok" doesn’t feel good enough for where we want to be and the fee they came attached with.

He never hid from the ball but seemed clumsy with it at times just feels like an opportunity missed for him in today's game.

Fine is pushing it a bit, he's been just about ok,looks a bit short on confidence. Willock has earned his start today but I can't be saying the same for Ramsay.

Agree. If every player put in a level of performance the same as what he did today from now till the end of the season we'd lose a lot more than we'd win.

While Elanga has looked a bit clumsy at times, there have been some electric moments where you could see he could win games. With Ramsey I just haven't seen anything that suggests he's a top player. He's a tidy player at the moment, but pretty anonymous mostly. He doesn't look a bad player, just not someone who improves us, so not really sure what the point of the signing.
