Would like to see him take more risks on the ball

So would I. But I feel like he doesn’t dare as the crowd will be straight on him

Elanga is far worse in that regard. May as well not bother coming on the pitch.

I liked his attitude tonight. I seen him on a good few occasions demanding the ball and giving out when it broke down, thought he was alot more agressive in the tackle too. I agree also he needs to take more chances but I’m sure that will come with more minutes and confidence . He should certainly be ahead of willock now

That's what kind of annoys me about him, we spent 40m on him and he looks like a development squad player with potential, i think Bruno costed less from Lyon?

You know who cost even less!? ALAN SHEARER! The top scorer in PREMIER LEAGUE HISTORY.

Get rid asap imo.

Couldn't agree more.

Yes Bruno was 35 mil.

Brighter first half than we had seen previously. Seemed to have abit of purpose and wanted to get things moving.

However so far he looks a really nothing average player than doesn't really add anything. Thought he was going to be abit like Willock from a few years back and use his speed and dribbling to open up the pitch and make things happen for us. But he doesn't look like he has that in his locker.

Fairly neat and tidy in most things he does but he's lacking something. Maybe all the injuries he has took their toll like they did on Willock and this is the player we are now left with. Hope I'm wrong and he's just struggling to settle fully yet.

Just doesnt seem to has goals in him. We really need G+A from midfield, other than Bruno

Isak costed £125m and on current form he’d get picked last when they’re choosing teams for the lunchtime game of football in the school yard at West Jesmond Primary

Thought it was a really encouraging performance from him. Did what he did well for Villa in the first half; nipping in and robbing the ball in the middle of the park to initiate attacks, and generally doing lots of positive actions. Made a good contribution to the goal too, finding Bruno whose efforts ultimately led to Miley forcing a save for the corner.

Looking forward to seeing more of him and feel pretty sure he's going to be a good player for us.

I don't think CMs need a lot of  G+A. They need control (offensively and defensively), ability to protect the defence and open teams up.

I liked Ramsey's work off the ball especially in the first half. On the ball though - very little forward thrust. Doesn't break a line with ball carrying like a prime Joelinton or Willock, barely finds a forward pass all night. Maybe collect the ball nicely in a good position, turn, play it sideways rinse and repeat. We have to get the ball to Bruno, Miley, Thiaw or Schar for any ability to break a line with a pass or find someone in a dangerous position. 3 of them in defender roles.

That's not entirely Ramsey's fault. Howe has identified this weird squad profile of a 3 man midfield usually, 3 that can pass, 3 that want to run with the ball. It's weird. I thought Ramsey would be a hybrid but he doesn't seem to be. I'd rather 2 of those half CM's like Joelinton, Willock, Ramsey and 4 proper CMs like Bruno, Tonali & Miley. You need more midfielders that can pick a pass.

We don't have passing ability from wide either.
