With Joelinton, it’s also opposition teams know he’s a weak link for us so will exploit it more. Get around him early, he’ll do daft shit and if it’s an early yellow, his game is done.

So it won’t always be because he’s off it, but because he’s facing more attacks than before, so with his age will naturally come off worse more. Teams are not going to target Tonali side for example.

When he’s fit I think JL really shines from about 70 mins onward. There’s enough fatigue on the pitch that any technical superiority is negated just enough for his physicality to overcome it and start to dominate.
As @timeEd32has said, less games and his fitness and sharpness should be maximisied.

He’s a big lad for a footballer and it takes a lot to keep making those sudden changes of direction and balance shifts.

Aye most footballers look mid low to mid 70’s in KG. Big Joe looks 80kg+ maybe more.  Pretty rare for an all action CM.

Ramsey for games we'll be dominant anyway for his creativity instead of Joelinton.

Joelinton for the games we need to be more combative and fight in midfield.

Aye it's the same situation for Murphy & Elanga imo.

Lineups for when we're on the front foot vs when on the backfoot. Elanga with space to run into on the break, or Murphy on the ball when not being pressured.

But with players like Ramsey, from the little I saw of him, he may help contribute to us becoming more regularly the team on the front foot as our build up play through the middle will improve massively with him in there instead of Big Joe.

Glad he got minutes and contribued to a win but felt like he was off the pace and lost the ball too many times.

I thought he played well, not a very standout performance but given he’s not remotely match fit I thought he showed some nice touches and movement. Think he helps other players to find space much more easily

I liked that he got a few interceptions today and his work rate given he is just back from injury.

Thought he was good, Bruno was the outstanding one in the midfield but he and Miley supported him really well.

Saw him running beyond Wolte a few times and the ball either didn't come or was cut out. He'll get chances as he continues to get minutes.

That's how I saw it. You could see he was trying to do the right things, but felt like he's not used to playing in such congested spaces which our high intensity game tends to lead to. Might just be rust though, I would think he'll adapt to it.

Yeah he has a good burst of pace in the first few steps which helps him to intercept and retain possession.

Thought he did ok obviously just coming back from injury but good to get minutes in him.

More to come hopefully.

Not a stat nerd at all but showing his passing was good his duels not so much. But in the first half particularly they were attacking his side quite a bit when they weren't going long.

Thought he was better for us defensively than offensively tonight despite him being a more attack minded player. More to come from him though and excited to see it.

This was how I saw it. His off the ball work was better than I was expecting. Did really well to nick the ball near the halfway line second half that set us up for a decent counter. That stood out.

Quite slight and a smaller frame than I realised. Certainly a different model to Joelinton and a nice option to have.
